Does anyone know how to calculate ALOA - and what does it include? I've been told ALOA includes some of your tour money that you would have earned from the time of injury till the end of your tour, and I've also been told ALOA consists of nothing more than 895 a month for the duration of your tour.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Clerks would be better able to answer your question, but I do know that ALOA was designed as a replacement for allowances you would have received had you been able to stay on tour post-injury.  If you're on the DIN, here's the CANFORGEN:

http://vcds.mil.ca/vcds-exec/pubs/canforgen/2007/050-07_e.asp

The references mentioned in the CANFORGEN are the ones for Foreign Service, Hardship, Hardship Bonus, Risk, and other allowances.  The portion of the CANFORGEN you are looking at is:

THE NEW ALLOWANCE IS A MONTHLY RATE WHICH IS DETERMINED BASED ON THE FOLLOWING:

SUM OF A MEMBERS MONTHLY ALLOWANCE PAID UNDER THE AUTHORITY OF REFS B AND C THAT WERE CEASED UPON NOTIFICATION OF THEIR EARLY REPATRIATION

A MONTHLY AMOUNT OF EIGHT HUNDRED AND SIXTY FIVE DOLLARS IN LIEU OF THE TAX RELIEF RECEIVED UNDER PART 1 OF THE INCOME TAX ACT FOR QUALIFIED MEMBERS AND

BOTH AMOUNTS ARE MULTIPLIED BY A FACTOR OF ONE POINT THREE FIVE PERCENT

First - as Sigop said clerks would be better to ask - go see your pay clerk and they should be able to tell you exactly what you should get in a few minutes.

A quick rough estimate is that you will continue to get all your allowances (HA, HAB, FSP, RA) that you received for the operation. Most OPS are tax free so they have built in the $865 to cover off this and for some reason multipied it all by 1.35 percent. Add all that up, make your regular monthly deductions (EI, Tax, CPP, etc) and you will get your net amount. example - allowance total $1k+865+$25.18 (1.35%) - 604.86(32% rough est of deductions)=1285.32 net.
