Not to poke the bear of the "let's change the uniform" crowd, but the RAAF is transitioning from the DPCU (which is in common with the Aus Army) to the GPU, pictured below.

From the official Intranet site:  "Air Force members require a durable and functional working dress: to date this has been provided by the Disruptive Pattern Combat Uniform (DPCU). However, DPCU is most often associated with Army, and prevents the easy identification of Air Force personnel in the community. The GPU will provide the durability and functionality of DPCU, but also provide a consistent appearance for all Air Force personnel. GPU as a distinct pattern and colour will enable Air Force personnel and their families to take pride in a unique Air Force identity easily recognisable and identifiable with the Royal Australian Air Force."

Take that as you will; for one, I'm glad that Street Fighter - The Movie influenced something  >:D

That's even stupider than anything that we've done.

I hope that it stays that way.

A blue uniform of some sort makes sense if you want to differentiate the AF from Navy or Army but blue cammo?  Useful, perhaps, for para on the way down but really, it serves no purpose and IMHO is a huge waste of funds.

We did that just a couple of years before CADPAT came out. Great kit, only problem with it was that it was blue and you couldn't deploy with it (as in to an operational theatre).

I'm betting the RAAF will be back in green within 10 years (or not long after they deploy to whatever the next shithole deployment is).

They misspelled "Bloggins."

Oh, I guess they're following Canadian press and have already switched to a generic "Blunden."  >:D

Hideous....truly awful.  And a stupid waste of money in my opinion.

On a barely tangentially related note....The Canadian Women's rugby 7s team beat the Aussie women twice last weekend at the USA sevens on the way to take second place in the tournament.

There's always a link with rugby  ;D

Heather Moyse, who has played magnificently with Canada's national teams in several Rugby World Cups, won gold at the Olympics in bobsleigh (with teammate and awesome ink showcase, Kaillie Humphries).

Australia didn't win.  Clearly lacking rugby players on their Olympic team.

The linkage is obvious.

The new RAAF uniform should hide bird droppings quite nicely.

On another note, rugby is the game they play in Heaven.

If I recall my "Sea Patrol", the RAN is in grey and black cam already.  Must be hard for an RSM to colour coord a parade these days.  One would have to know their hue spectrum!

Yes, but they already have copycat Brit rank badges so there was no opportunity for the Aussie version of the pips and crowns clowns to make mischief with scarce taxpayers' dollars.
