It requires approval from the Agricultural Land Commission. A person wanting to do such a thing must source an alternate similar sized piece of land, convert it to agricultural use to the extent it fully replaces the original land. So buying 5000 hectares up in the isolated mountains with no growing range and no grazing won’t cut it.No, but changing its status from Agricultural to something else requires the applicable council to do so.
