I'd suggest keeping an interested eye on him. The Papacy and the Catholic Church in general has insane soft power. You'd be surprised the influence a savvy pope can have on global affairs, Francis was quite astute at it imo, he shaped a lot of global conversations.

I understand and appreciate the existence of 'faith'; I don't have in a spiritual sense, but can understand it. I don't get 'religion'.

In other words - "it's not that I don't necessarily believe in God, it's just that I'm not sure that he believes in me".
