PRESEC

Hello,

Can you give me some kind of indication as to how long a PRESEC will take? I've read the forums and many old posts seem to indicate 1 to 2 years. I also realize that each individual situation is different and with many different government agencies involved it can be challenging to determine a time frame. So my personal situation is this:

I was living & working in the UK for 203 days in 2009 (believe me if I knew the delays this might cause I would have been back in Canada 2 weeks sooner!  :facepalm: ). I spent some time traveling a bit of Spain and South Africa but was only in those countries for a few weeks on holiday. I have been able to obtain a the UK equivalent of a criminal record check (as requested by the recruiter), though I cannot obtain a credit check and I understand that I can swear an affirmation that I have no debts over there. I am a Canadian Citizen though I wasn't at the time of my traveling.

Ideally, I would like to know any recent time frames for obtaining the PRESEC in a similar situation. Alternatively, if I knew more about the exact process, ie what checks are done and by whom, I can guesstimate on my own.

First yellow, you answered your own question.
Second yellow, the vetting is done by CSIS.  Information on what they do, and how they do it is something even CFRC's are not privy to and therefore it is definately not publicly releasable information.

There is no one in a similar situation as yourself, because you are your own unique person, with your own life history, giving us only a snippet of that, which may or may not be truthful. Beyond that, there is already a large thread on this topic, and accordingly this one will be locked.
