Hello everyone,

I recently applied to be a signal operator with the reserves and my only one concern is push ups...
I'm a small guy with little arms I can do 20 normal pushups with my arm far out but when my recuirter told me to do pushups with my hands under my shoulders I could only do like 7...

So I'm looking for advice as to what I should be doing to increase 7 to 25?
I've basically am doing about 7 to 8 pushups every morning and night before I go to bed everyday, and adding on 1 more every day. So far I can do 13 and its only been about 5 days. And today I'm back to 8 pushups cause my arms are so weak today. Any advice to increase my pushups would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

That is an outstanding question, and one we've never seen before 'round here.  If only there were some sort of a means of searching for an answer on this site...

I tried searching... using keywords like pushups, push-ups, and there is no real definitive answer. Sorry. I know better to search first before I ask... I'll keep digging though.

Use Google to search through army.ca, it's easier.

As for increasing your push-up count/strength, every time you piss, you pump off as many push-ups you can.  There are many other things you can do like hitting the gym and strengthen those arms.

27 page thread on push-ups. Pay attention to reply #341. In addition, when you are trying this program utilize the CF push-up form instead of the wider than shoulder width form.

Advice; practice, practice, and more practice.

Try the 100 Push-up Challenge.

You don't have to actually do the challenge, but you can always  try to follow the routine to improve your push-ups.

Before you can achieve, you must believe!
