I just had some questions about the MMT QL3:

1. What is the general curriculum? Is it a lot of information thrown at you very quickly and difficult to pass?

2. What is the general vibe on this course. Is there a lot of inspection/typical army discipline, or is it a little more relaxed?

3. Is there a field portion?

4. Is the MMT QL3 the same for reg force and reserve? Is it possible for reservists to get loaded on reg force courses?

5. Is the MMT QL3 always run out of Borden or are there plans to decentralize it?

Thank you!

This is what CFLTC says:

QL3 Apprentice Supply Technician

Aim
- The aim of this course is to provide entry-level training to Supply Technicians in order to provide them the tools to operate in a base or field unit.

Scope - This course consists of 38 training days and covers the following topics:

  • ID Material & Request
  • Requisition Material
  • Warehousing
  • Issue and Receipt of Material
  • Inventory Control
  • Repair & Disposal
  • Pers Equipment
All references and study material will be supplied by CFLTC. Due to recent problems with viruses, the use of outside software is forbidden on the computers provided in our facilities however, students can bring their laptops and set them up in their rooms. Personal USB devices of any kind are not permitted to be attached to DND computers.
*It may be dated as we are not called Supply Techs anymore.

There are inspections and marching. There is no field portion. Its the same course for Reg/Res. And I suspect its only run in Borden.

Thank you for the quick response. To your knowledge, do a lot of people struggle/fail on this course? And if they do, what are the common issues that people have?

Thanks again.

It has been a decade since I taught the course, but we have a very very low failure rate. Most of the course is geared around learning how to search publications and finding references. There is a small practical around packaging and basic warehousing.

I would say the common issue people have is RTFQ. Read the fucking question. People often don't read the whole question and rush off to get the wrong answer. Take your time, RTFQ learn what publications to find things in.

Don't fret about failing, come in positive and use all the resources the school offers you if you need it.

A

Also, is there usually P/T on these courses?

There is PT, usually x 3 a week.

One more question if you don’t mind:

I heard CFLTC is not in a good place right now for reasons that aren’t clear to me. I’ve heard they’ve been having some problems on courses like this. This is just whispers I’ve heard and could be complete nonsense but is there any truth to that? Thank you again.

Don't take this the wrong way, I have no idea. Nor do I wish deal in rumors and hearsay.

I enjoyed my time there as a student and teacher.

I say again, go to the school with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
