Replacing the Subs

Love this!

There is a video on Naval News regarding the same. They are working hard to get us a big submarine.

I think this is a unique opportunity for Canada to work with a partner to develop a truly Canadian style of sub. Now that Australia is out of the SSK game Canada is really the only country with long endurance SSK's as a requirement.

That VLS and Hyunmoo is interesting as well. I think that missile has potential, but probably needs some work to really meet Canadian strategic needs. Anti-ship version (or equivalent cruise missile) would make the SSK a true hunter killer.

It wasn't clear to me they were pitching KSS-111 or the Future Submarine at CPSP.

Well, sort of.

This is just announcing how many AUKUS subs they intend to acquire, staring in the late 30's. So lets be kind and say around 2037 for first in service and then one more every 18 months (again being very kind here). As they will be replacing the Astute's, this means the first "extra" boat from current levels will come in service in 2046 and the complete augmentation will be completed in 2055.

Not exactly something for the UK's enemies to worry about at this time.

Nice, comparable length of time for our Rivers, 20yrs basically from first to last. Ditto for our enemies as well.
