He has a better ethics policy than most actual news companies and seems to take leaking things very seriously and personally, which is very humble for someone who has such accuracy with rumors and info months ahead of the mainstream. It's very refreshing.

A bit of wishful reporting from Asia 
Multiple sources indicate that Canada is leaning towards selecting South Korea as the preferred bidder for its $60 billion next-generation submarine project. However, final negotiations are ongoing regarding whether to award the entire contract to South Korea or to split it with Germany.
According to officials, the Canadian government is seriously considering South Korea's proposal, but the final contracting method has not yet been confirmed.

Whatever the decision, itll be a good day for Canada and the NATO alliance as a whole. This really feels like a turning point of sorts to me. A decision that in conjunction with all the other stuff going on will turn Canada into a true naval power once again.
No, that’s 5:10 Atlantic. 4:10 eastern. But Hanwha and TKMS trade on different exchanges. I don’t think this is a factor.

For some, as long as they're built by a Canadian company in Canada they could care less how dangerous they are.
20 minute offset. My guess is a Hanwha announcement in Halifax, then a major facilities and infrastructure announcement in Esquimault.

I very much hope so, a split fleet would be catastrophic for the RCN. Not that the PMO seems to care about operational reality given its leanings for major procurement programs as of late.....
What specific procurement decisions with announced results cause you to say the PMO doesn’t care about operational reality?
So maybe a firm contract for Jetty A Construction and new Piers for Subs on the West of Esquimalt Harbour?

Probably, if we are getting 12 subs we woukd need infrastructure for them. Possibly even a different site all together. There was talk at one point of building a sub base at comox but I think that died

I can't help shake the feeling that the upcoming press announcements on 6-July (in Halifax by Canadian PM and in Esquimalt by Canadian Secretary of State (Defence Procurement), before a NATO meeting, means a NATO supplier of the submarine is to be selected (ie TKMS with Type-212CD)
However, I note early morning speculation in South Korea, saw a 15% jump in Hanwha Ocean stock, before it dropped to +5% increase. It does appear some in South Korea are betting on a Hanwha Ocean contract award.
These are interesting times.
What ever the choice, I believe it good for Canada (and the RCN in particular). .... And now (in addition to infrastructure) there will need be a big focus in coming years finding the personnel to man the submarines (and to retain them).
