Russia in the 21st Century [Superthread]

Following up on the GPS interference, found this interesting map on Flightradar24, tracking levels of interference by day ...
... and here's yesterday's map to show what it looks like.

Not EXACTLY Russia, but its neighbour Belarus (#RussiaLight) - Polish Catholic monk nabbed for "spying" ....
This version from BLR state media (link to archived version in non-BLR server here):
... Following an intelligence operation by one of Poland's special services, Belarus' State Security Committee (KGB) detained citizens of Belarus and Poland in Lepel. The detained Polish citizen, Grzegorz Gaweł, was found to be in possession of a photocopy of a document related to the Belarusian-Russian joint exercise Zapad 2025, marked as “secret”.

A subsequent search revealed that Grzegorz Gaweł, born in 1998, lives in Krakow. When asked what tasks he was performing in the Belarusian city of Lepel, Grzegorz Gaweł replied: “The task is to obtain information on the topic of the Zapad exercise”. The Polish citizen's personal belongings included U.S. dollars, euros, Bulgarian and Polish currency, Belarusian rubles, and a SIM card from a mobile operator that had been given to him. The SIM card was registered to another person.

There is irrefutable evidence of the espionage activities of the Polish citizen. Just minutes before his detention, he received a secret military document. The entire incident was captured on video.

Via social media, Grzegorz Gaweł contacted a Belarusian citizen and recruited him to cooperate on behalf of Polish intelligence services. This cooperation involved the covert collection and provision of classified information, details on command staff, as well as employees of military counterintelligence. The detainee transmitted the obtained data to Polish security forces. In particular, he was collecting secret information on Belarusian military facilities for the Internal Security Agency.

In exchange for transmitting the information he required, Grzegorz Gaweł promised to pay the Belarusian citizen money on a monthly basis. On the first occasion, besides financial means, he brought his informant coffee, chocolate, and a mobile phone case designed to block its signal ...

Less about Russia but more on Russian interference ops in the upcoming Moldovan elections, and Moldovans’ historical struggles with Russia. By the former ambassador to Afghanistan.

I have not grasped the reason why Ukraine has not gone into Transnistria and ended it’s existence and holder it back over to Moldova for them to govern.

perhaps because it makes them the aggressor at a time when they dare not upset any more applecarts then they absolutely have too. Russia would have a public relations field day on that and who knows how Trump would respond.

Next on the Article 4 "Let's Chat, Guys" list ....

If the next 3.5 yrs of Trump continues down the path as is, the following US President will have tough sledding ahead of them to attempt to bring Allies back into the circle of trust.

If Russia can be stopped and even pushed back. Or if Russia starts cracking and the population has had enough of the war. Then expect Transnistria to be taken apart. It is being slowly put to death now, but nothing to aggressive.

Darth Putin's take on the Estonian poke
Same guy who does the x.com feed also has a podcast:

How do you say "don't be snowflakes" in Polish? :)
Worth the 4 minute listen - notice the head nod during this bit @ the end: "I have only one request to the Russian government: if another missile or aircraft enters our space without permission, deliberately or by mistake, and gets shot down ... please don't come here to whine about it. You have been warned."

These guys and the Finns may not be the ... optimal ones for USSR 2.0 to poke if they're looking for low-lying fruit.

Mind you, they may be good individually, but we'd have to see how the rest of NATO (or at least European NATO) would respond.
