So I'm coming down to the line here for my flight to St. Jean.

I start IAP on sept 4th, and I fly to Quebec on the 1st. I think were the exact dates.

Right now I'm working on having my stuff.. ( in storage in Victoria since I left after the last semester of school.) being put into long term storage. That seems to be going.. well.. not so great, but I'm confident it will happen eventually.

My big question is what happens to my truck.
It doesn't seem practical for me to have it in St. Jean. So I want it stored.
The recruting center said wait until the 1st when im back in Victoria to go and deal with it. Unfortunately I'm not the kind of person that can just arrive and hope that everything is working, I need to have it done in advance and organised.

The recruiting center also said they would ship it.. or I would ship it, and they would reimburse. Everyone else says not to bring it.
Then they mentioned that there is an allowance that I can apply for to have it stored while im in IAP/BOTC/and maybe SLT, or have it shipped out for SLT.

I understand I just store it on my dime, and then apply for compensation, and im just curious what the going rate for compensation is. I was told the shipping is the .. get 3 quotes, take the middle one, and ship away.. whereas the storage was a flat rate.

Anyone know what that flat rate is? I need to decide if I want to store it in my hometown, with a friend, family, or in Victoria.

I looked on the DND website for the regs, but couldn't find any.

thanks in advance folks.

Don't do anything with out contacting your local F&E (Furniture and Effects) section. Phone your local base operator and ask for F&E. These are the guys that get paid to worry about the finer points of your moves and storage.

Thanks guys, I knew I'd seen that somewhere before. Just couldn't find it again.

I called local storage and it was $60/month for outdoor spaces, but it seems those are all full locally.
An indoor spot, which they have tonnes of, are $150/month.

Seems a little steep to me, and for some reason I don't think the AF would be all too happy shelling out $150xatleast 4 months.

I'll call the F&E guys when I get a chance.
