Is this CWO threatening the troops or is he using his pace stick to direct the chorus ? ;D

Can't he do both at the same time?  :D

Yep. He's threatening the chorus because they're laughing :)!

Most definitely he is directing the choir in their Christmas carolling outside the COs residence.

Obvious due to the presence of the COs aides standing politely off to the side holding the trays of requisite alcoholic refreshments at the ready upon their completion of said carolling.

;)

While reading the article on the new ISAF commander I saw the pic of CWO1C Lorne Campbell getting the troops sorted out for an awards ceremony. It looked a bit humorous. Hope he wont mind a bit of fun.

Huh?

Just the RSM getting someone's attention in the rear rank of the 4th Coy as they are formed up in close column of companies....

Perfectly natural.

Is there anything wrong?

Back in '75 I was with the C Scot R at Milcon in Ft Lewis Wa.  We happened to be there on Canada Day, and paraded in S4B in the main part of the base.  I still remember the shock and awe from the US soldiers a couple of days later when the local base paper printed a photo of A Coy's CSM...

The Picture was a head and shoulders shot of the man (whose nickname amongst the troops was "Mad-Dog"), but really all you could see was teeth, tonsils and uvula, because his mouth was wide open.  The caption read something to the effect of "What I want is dressing, and I want it right bloody now".

We heard many comments about it fm various US types we ran into.  I don't think they were prepared for anything approaching a Commonwealth CSM.

Dressing?... no such thing - unless you're refering to the salad variety :)

I have no doubt they were astonished. The level of discipline in some units of the 9ID was pretty lax due to the fact that NCO's were on levy for Europe and were in short supply. My last winter FTX prior to leaving Alaska for Ft Benning was as radio operator for a detachment assigned as liason with an infantry battalion of the 9th Division. The NCO's and I were quartered in the former kitchen area of the barracks. On the other side of the line in the mess hall was a FA Bn. In the evening a fight broke out amongst the troops and it took the SGM's presence to restore order. The NCO's and I exchanged 'holy batman" looks.

Geo,

Understood.  On the other hand, I wasn't about to discuss the man's philological peccadilloes with him.  ;D

It is a soooo common misnomer to go: Dressing, right dress.......

As a young Cpl, had my a$$ reamed a couple of times to purge my mind of the term.  ;)

Hah. I remarked with disgust to some BMQs today that 'I've seen snow plows on the 417 with better dressing than that."

It was true, too...

In my experiance dosen't RSM really mean Really Short Man? Most that I've ever met are really short..Conspiriscy??

JK

JK,

Why not test your theory? Asl the next RSM you met if that is in fact the case.

Clearly you've never met RSMs CWO "Big John" Ginn, CWO John Marr or CWO Dave Preeper. None of whom would be considered short or small men.

I can back Haggis up on CWO Dave Preeper. Not a CWO I'd be choosing to challenge that's for sure!! Not that'd I have to as he is obviously not a short man.  :D
