Does anyone know of any lists of which trades are considered specialist and qualify for the higher pay? As well, anyone no of which trades are specialist 2?

Thanks in advance.

so for someone for example going AVN tech when would they start on the spec pay side?

Someone feel free to correct me, but I believe you don't get spec pay until you are 5's qualified.

:cdn:

Spec pay is a bit of a mess right now and the entire way it is granted is being reviewed.   It "used to be" that you needed your QL5's to get it as a minimum with some trades requiring you to have your 6A's or B's whereas now there are some trades, such as MP, which get it back dated to enrollment upon graduation from BRT at which time they are immediately promoted to Cpl back dated to their enrollment.

I believe this issue is caused by CBI 204.30 which states, in part:
...a non-commissioned member to whom this instruction applies shall be paid, for each month after the month and year specified in the table, at the rate of pay established for the member's rank, incentive pay category, pay level and trade group in the appropriate column in the table to this instruction...

As nothing in this CBI details anything about Trade Qualification Level it seems Spec Pay is now triggered via the rank of Cpl as opposed to the QL5/6* as happened in the past.   This also applies to people who are OTing (they get Spec Pay as soon as they are assigned the new MOSID even if they don't go on course for another "x" months) and for Reservists on Class "C" unless their Reserve MOSID is different from the Reg Force one and the Reserve MOSID hasn't been assigned to a Spec Pay trade group.
