The following is based solely on my experience seeing others go the route you've chose. It's not gospel.
Likely, you'll wind up as a A/Cpl. MCpl in most trades is a controlled rank; one needs to be merit listed and there needs to be positions for the career manager to promote, but you should also at least get credit for your JLC equivalent training. Such credit should work to your benefit later. As a training failure, you probably don't have vested rights to pay. IE: your situation is not one that is out of your control.
In short, my opinion only: A/Cpl basic incentive.
