The Great Gun Control Debate- 2.0

You just described the entire liberal party.

Speaking of useless losers, has anyone heard anything from Cukier or the CGC? It appears from a quick perusal of the webz that they may be defunct.

Mind, I'm certainly not alarmed or concerned.
Last I heard of Cukier she was getting in a lot of trouble at Ryerson for bullying. I believe it cost her being president of the university.

Firearms in Circulation [2020]

  • ~10,040,000 total (estimated)
  • 1.2 M Restricted and Prohibited, most are handguns
    • 1.0M Handguns owned by 276,000 individuals
    • Acquisition exemptions proposed for:
      • 8,000 elite level sport shooters and 6,000 ATC
  • 699 businesses authorized to sell restricted firearms (HGs)
rounding 1.2M-1M leaves on the order of 200000 restricted and prohibited firearms before the recent nonsense
also 10M estimated firearms in Canada by the governments own estimates

A half baked release in January and before that, March 25. You'd think she'd be typing her little heart out with all the current shenanigans going on.

Their FB page hasn't had a post since Apr 23, mind there is only 597 followers.

I was hoping against hope they were in their death throws.

Then I looked at their X page.🤬

That's an interesting choice of words...
Interesting often isn't positive. They may be evaluating new ways to force compliance administratively, rather than just relying on firearms owners being honest, law abiding citizens.

Lol you don't like letting us have one little glimmer of hope do you ? Lol

They have no acutal plan for the collection (confiscation) or payment. My expectation is that they will come up short on willing volunteers from police services to staff their collection teams, which is why they said that collections will be implemented in areas with significant uptake on the program. Other areas will have to wait.

I also expect that in QC their gun registry will eventually be used to identify and confiscate guns which have not been declared.

Lastly, I also expect that any "buyback" money paid out will be taxed at source. Your expected $500 will turn out to be $440, if the cheque ever arrives.

Hopefully there's some wicked messy protests. Make our paid-duty friends really work for their money.

I'll be surprised if they actually go through with compensation. I can see them delaying the confiscation to find different ways to force more compliance.

The businesses that submitted items for destruction haven't been paid yet....why do you think individuals would get paid?
