The War in Ukraine

In terms of the evolution of Trump

Trump’s post in full

Here is Donald Trump’s full post on Truth Social in which he turned on Vladimir Putin.

“No matter what deal I make with respect to Russia/Ukraine, no matter how good it is, even if it’s the greatest deal ever made, The Failing New York Times will speak BADLY of it. Liddle’ Peter Baker, the very biased and untalented writer for The Times,

First things first - It is all about New York. How The Donald is seen on Page Six of the New York Post and how he is accepted by New York society.

followed his Editor’s demands and wrote that Ukraine should get back territory, including, I suppose, Crimea, and other ridiculous requests, in order to stop the killing that is worse than anything since World War II.

I actually do think that Trump is serious about his concerns about the killing. And the risk of WW3 and Americans dying. If only for the impact on his reputation.

“Why doesn’t this lightweight reporter say that it was Obama who made it possible for Russia to steal Crimea from Ukraine without even a shot being fired.

To my mind this is a major concession. Realpolitik aside the war started with the seizure of Crimea by Russia from Ukraine. That is not Ukraine's fault. Obama is a handier scapegoat.

It was also Liddle’ Peter who wrote an absolutely fawning, yet terribly written Biography, on Obama. It was a JOKE! Did Baker ever criticize the Obama Crimea Giveaway? NO, not once, only TRUMP, and I’ve had nothing to do with this stupid war, other than early on, when I gave Ukraine Javelins, and Obama gave them sheets.

As is Biden.

“This is Sleepy Joe Biden’s War, not mine. It was a loser from day one, and should have never happened, and wouldn’t have happened if I were President at the time. I’m just trying to clean up the mess that was left to me by Obama and Biden, and what a mess it is.

It is less dangerous to beat up on Biden, Obama and Zelensky than it is to beat up on Putin and Xi.

But....

“With all of that being said, there was no reason for Putin to be shooting missiles into civilian areas, cities and towns, over the last few days. It makes me think that maybe he doesn’t want to stop the war, he’s just tapping me along, and has to be dealt with differently, through “Banking” or “Secondary Sanctions?” Too many people are dying!!!”

Apparently Trump knows a lot about a lot of stuff. He knows more than everybody else about deals, infrastructure, tax laws, visas and how to build solar powered spaceships.

One thing he doesn't know about is sending people to die.

To be fair, had Obama placed a Division of troops into Ukraine in 2014, we would not have had this war. It was Obama's insipid response to the take over of Crimea that encouraged Putin to risk moving on the DNR and LPR.
The same blame could be placed on Trump45 and Biden. They could have put US troops into the area and had NATO conduct PeaceMaking

Well, well, well - the USSR 2.0 info-machine (foreign ministry) says it out loud ....
Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova’s comment on liberation of the Kursk Region

(...)

... A new page has appeared in the glorious chronicle of the combat brotherhood between the Russian and the Korean peoples.

The soldiers of the Korean People's Army, in accordance with the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Russia and the DPRK, which entered into force on December 4, 2024, fought shoulder to shoulder, in the same trench and shed blood with our soldiers and officers in the Kursk Region and made a significant contribution to the liberation of the Russian land from the enemy invaders ...

So russia keeps everything, Ukraine can't join NATO, and gets unspecified security guarantees, and the US gives recognition to russian occupied areas...... long term thats a lose for ukraine.
Short term also - but irrelevant as neither side will agree to it. It is just MAGA's wet dream

An open sore - much like the Korean DMZ, the Inner-German Border, the Cyprus Green Line, Israel, Alsace-Lorraine, the Sudetenland, NW India, the Welsh marches, the Anglo-Scottish border....

Peace in our time, for a whiles.

Pretty much, and now russia is once again demanding stop arming Ukraine as part of a ceasefire but I bet if we demanded they stop getting support from Iran and DPRK they would say that's not realistic. It's hilarious a "superpower " gets 50% of its ammo from the DPRK.

Literally if Ukraine could find a way to destroy the bridges in omsk, it would cut the countries east/west link

Other than NW India and Israel, the others hasn't seen an armed, state-level incursion in a long time. A couple might get testy from time to time but most nations have made peace with their demarcations from neighbours.

Or yet another Russian "ceasefire" ....

Or, put another way :)

I'm thinking about how long those sores ran before enough scar tissue was allowed to form.

I’m been hopefully that they smash the trans Siberian railway river bridges for 18 months now.

Russia are professional scab pickers, and keep cutting new wounds too
Individuals who self harm and violently act out towards others are usually dealt with by the health care system sometimes against their will.
What can you do with a nation state ? Especially one that's has nuclear weapons?

There is no evolution. A couple of weeks ago he said he was “pissed off” with Vladdy Daddy, but then proposed a “peace offer” that would give Russia more than they asked for and asked nothing in return.
