The War in Ukraine

Not sure I track the logic of this but ok! Even with the massive fuel shortage in Crimea I don't think electric vehicles make up much of the traffic crossing the bridge to begin with, and the last very public example of smuggled explosives came in the form of a diesel powered truck blowing up on it.

I'd bet money something else is going on.

Unsurprisingly, it seems that so few NK's end up being captured alive is because there is a belief they'll be killed anyway if ever returned home. 2 are opting to push to be released to South Korea instead.

Ukraine has also made 2 pretty big claims.

Ukraine should just put it out far and wide that any North Koreans that surrender will have refuge in Ukraine or South Korea. And sweeten the deal for any North Koreans that turn on their Russian comrades before surrendering, they get a bonus.

Been a hot minute since the last pipeline attack, this one appears to have been in person.

Russian hospitals are a nightmare. There was a post a short time ago regarding the improper use of tourniquets in the Ukrainian military leading to a spike in amputations, in Russia the wait is so long in hospitals now they're seeing a massive increase to a point where double leg amputations has become a common sight.

"It’s a complete madhouse there. All the corridors are overcrowded, seriously ill men are lying in the corridors, there’s plenty of space. I lay there for a week, and they did absolutely nothing. That's how it is."

Today's USSR 2.0 word: nullification ....
... Executions, referred to as “nullifications,” include direct killings, torture, and sending soldiers on near-suicidal missions without weapons or protective gear.

A mobilized soldier named Aleksei told Verstka that a commander with the call sign “Sumrak” had assigned a subordinate to execute anyone who disobeyed orders.

“Those who refused were shot point-blank,” Aleksei said. “Their bodies were dumped in the Siverskyi Donets River or shallowly buried.”

Another soldier, known by the call sign “Fixa,” from the same 80th Tank Regiment, was allegedly tortured and shot after refusing to serve as a “beacon” – a live decoy sent ahead to draw Ukrainian fire.

His execution was filmed, according to two witnesses, who said the footage shows “Kemer’s men” beating and electrocuting him before shooting him dead.

Witnesses describe soldiers being executed at close range, tortured with electric devices, or killed by drone strikes for disobeying orders.

Their bodies are often left on the battlefield or buried in forests, officially recorded as “missing in action” or “deserters.” ...

Life in a Ukrainian prison, and probably going to be in isolation if they want him to experience the full sentence.

Seems like the new tanks coming off Russian production lines are pretty crappy quality...

The T-80BVM is one of the Russian Army’s newer upgrades, publicly promoted as a modern and combat-ready tank. However, “Tim” said that the platform performs very differently under real conditions.

He described the tank as impressive on paper but poorly built in practice.

According to him, “It is something that looks quite good on paper, but the quality of execution is terrible. The bolts are made from soft alloy, they break instantly, and you are afraid to even tighten them.”

He said critical systems fail frequently. “The hydraulics in the turret started leaking the moment the vehicle rolled off the trailer. You fix one leak and another appears. It goes on in a circle.”
Also, an interesting comment on the cope cages and other physical C-UAV devices being added to tanks
He also criticized widely seen field modifications such as heavy overhead “grill” armor and chain-based “dread” systems meant to counter drones. These, he said, severely strain transmissions and turret drives. “The load is very high. Parts wear out much faster. If the structure is mounted to the turret, the turret drives burn out.”
