TKMS Type 212CD (Victoria class replacement megathread)

The Spanish exploration of the coast of what is now British Columbia gets short shrift in this country.
Back the 1990's we did a big show at the Vancouver Maritime Museum on these exploration voyages, we had some guys build a replica launch and the Spanish sailing ship came into town to help celebrate the anniversary of the voyages. Super fascinating and as every bit as competent as their British counterparts. I can only imagine how the Brits and the Spanish felt, when Vancouver rounded Point Grey and saw the Spanish ship at anchor.

Reading on the Spanish west coast exploration of Canada, and the interaction with British explorers, is an interesting short read , for refreshing one's memory on this bit of history. At least it was for me. ...

I kind of like the idea (to compete against other ideas) of using Canadian Islands for naming of the potential Canadian Type-212CD class of submarine.
