Not long ago I asked my Det. Commander about DEUs, seeing that other trained (not trades trained) privates had they're DEUs. He said that trained privates no longer qualify for DEUs. Is this true?

Wha? That's a load of crap. Privates need to have their DEUs. Just call your clothing store for an appointment.

The other interesting thing I have been told  is that we (trained privates only I'm assuming) cannot order DEUs from Logistic website anymore.

You are entitled to DEU issue upon completion of BIQ (for whatever trade you are). Being BMQ or SQ does not qualify you for this. You must get your initial issue from your RQ, after that you can get items off of Logistik UniCorps. You will recieve a set number of points every year. The best thing about it is you get your order within 3-4 days, to your door.

You are NOT a trained private untill you get your trades course. Thus, you are not entitled to DEUs untill such time.

Wow things have changed. I was issued my greens and tans the day I was sworn in.

The DEU thing is SOOO messed up in Borden. You cannot get anything here any more, on the door it says to go to the logistikcorp web page, and teh place is empty. ???

As far as I recall, in the reserves there is no hard an fast rule about when you get issued your DEUs and it is more up to the regiment to decide when they want it issued. I know that this year the Ptes with SQ are getting issued highland kit, whereas the ones with only BMQ are not. Previously, it was only the QL3 (BIQ) trained privates that got it, and I've seen other units that issue it the moment you're sworn in, or when you complete BMQ. However, I know other units where trained corporals don't even have DEU, although this is typically more of a supply problem than anything.

I believe things may have changed because I got my DEU's the other day since they were/will be needed for remembrance day as well as the regimental dinners we have comming up.  I used Logistik UniCorps as well and I got my jacket, shoes, shirts with no problem at all.

You can be issued kit with an initial kit issue and still not be entitled to wear it until the completion of certain courses. Best thing to do is as suggested go through your chain and ask appropriate questions. Better to ask than show up out of proper dress.

The way I always understood it, in the Inf. anyway you were entitled to your DEU's upon completion of your trades training or your QL3.

I only have my BMQ/SQ and I have all my gortex, DEU's etc. Everyone in my unit that has just finished SQ has it all. . .

Okay - I finally remembered to follow up on this ...
(kinda appropriate, since today's Remembrance Day ... just kidding - it's that darn malaria medication ...ha!)

Anyway - thought some of you might like to read the other thread that discusses the Logistik Unicorp website (where we order our DEU uniform parts - I only remembered when I realised I'd loaned my LFC badge to a friend, but hadn't received it back ... sigh ... oh, well ... at least the rest of my uniform was correct ...)
