Hello, I will be leaving Borden for my BMQ/ SQ in Shilo and was wondering if I would travel in civvies or in uniform on my civilian flight. Some people tell me I am supposed to and some tell me not.

I would travel in respectable civilain attire, but when in doubt ask whoever gives you your travel claim.

I am going to Shilo BMQ/SQ as well in Shilo this summer , and I was told to travel in Casual Business attire ,

Though there are some definate advantages to riding the plane in uniform, getting through security is always a bit of a hassle. The metal rivets in your combat boots will set off alarms, and I know people who have been forced to dress down as result. Your joining instructions for course may demand being in uniform, but there will always be a time and place for changing attire.

P.S. If they say casual business attire, by all means dress so. However, I've only ever seen casual civilian or uniform in this sort of travel (regardless of brigade or area) - so if you haven't a suit, I'd not be worried too much.

Just in passing Chaps, Boy have times changed. We didn't travel by plane unless you were going to Korea.

And traveling in uniform meant you got really good treatment from the CN or CPR staff, especially from the Dinning Car Staff, i.e your meal tickets had a cap on them, but the Matri"d always let you pick what ever you wanted.

That's when the C Pro C School moved to that God forsaken Shilo, and if you showed up at that little shack out in the middle of no where in civvies, the CSM or who ever meeting the train would probably have sent you back where you came.

I was going there for my Service Police Gp2 from Montreal 4 coy B Det. and who should be there to meet us, a S/Sgt from my old Detachment in Borden, who said L/Cpl......... welcome to no where and Pure Hell, like always, he wasn't far wrong.

Well good luck Chaps wether your in Uniform or Civvies.

Cheers.

Casual Business Attire - Pressed slacks/ khakis, collared pressed shirt, either long sleeve or polo, leather belt & shoes (no athletic shoes).
