Singh loves playing that game - we know it ends with him supporting Trudeau. Everytime.
Hey our new finance minister is indigenous. Sweet.Lol Randy's back
It's a slow night at sea, in 5m swells... Don't mind my peppering this thread lol it's all I have right now.
I would have been fine with an election in the fall. I'd be fine with the GoC falling in Feb for a May election. I'm not okay with having no government during the Trump transition because of how it impacts decision making.I believe your very much in the minority on this line of thinking. I am willing to bet the vast majority of Canadians want an election yesterday. If not, then today will suffice.
The PM has been openly courting Carney. When you're at a dance and your date starts eyeing up the competition, at some point you need to retain a shred of dignity (even if you are a politician).
If the PM is lucky enough to con Carney into sitting in the tent, I wonder if it would be as an unelected Cabinet member of he'll try and convince somebody to cough up their safe seat. I doubt Freeland would.
Except the wild card. This is a very unstable minority Liberal government. Its the political wild west these days in Ottawa. It may not be the NDP, but I wouldn't discount the Liberals themselves from forcing an election to get Trudeau out.Facts over feelings.
Hate to break it to you. This parliament will not move forward. There are three questions of privilege lined up. They take precedent. Trudeau is not bowing to the first one. ALL THREE opposition parties will not bow on the first one. We have no functioning government right now.Doesn't need to be Trudeau at the helm, just need to be someone, because otherwise the decision making gets paralyzed.
Rip the band-aid now - Gov't needs to fall now and a new Government election as soon as possible.I would have been fine with an election in the fall. I'd be fine with the GoC falling in Feb for a May election. I'm not okay with having no government during the Trump transition because of how it impacts decision making.

So what if we are in an election cycle when Trump takes power? Its not going to make a difference.
Just ask him, right?Hey our new finance minister is indigenous. Sweet.
And let's not forget this ....Randy The Pretendian
Former cabinet minister Randy Boissonnault tells committee: 'I am not Indigenous'
Edmonton MP resigned from cabinet last month
Randy Boissonnault, whose shifting claims to Indigenous identity cost him his job as employment minister, told a House of Commons committee today that he is not Indigenous.
Boissonnault was called to testify at the Indigenous and northern affairs committee after a series of media reports, led by the National Post, raised doubts about his past claims related to his heritage.
The Edmonton MP has been described as Indigenous multiple times in communications from the Liberal Party, has referred to himself as "non-status adopted Cree" and has said his great-grandmother was a "full-blooded Cree woman."
Just ask him, right?
And let's not forget this ....
Canadian government suspends contracts with Boissonnault's former company
The medical supply company co-founded by Liberal MP and former minister Randy Boissonnault has been suspended from bidding on or entering into contracts with the Government of Canada.www.ctvnews.ca
The offensive culminated shortly after Christmas. The rest was cleanup. On this day in 1944 the Germans launched the Ardennes Offensive, which culminated on 25 January 1945.
So I guess the writ drops on 25 January 2025, to maintain the historical parallel.
All of that is going to make the financial markets within Canada and around the world feel comfortable and assured that Canada has its financial house in good order - wtf.
A lot of these are Cabinet level issue where you need a minister, not Parliament. A lot of high level decisions freeze solid during elections, but with the Cabinet gong show that needs sorted regardless.Hate to break it to you. This parliament will not move forward. There are three questions of privilege lined up. They take precedent. Trudeau is not bowing to the first one. ALL THREE opposition parties will not bow on the first one. That doesn’t make the least bit of sense. Why would they trigger an election while facing the worst likely prospect of reelection? They need Trudeau to step aside in a way that gives them time to benefit from some leveling off.Except the wild card. This is a very unstable minority Liberal government. Its the political wild west these days in Ottawa. It may not be the NDP, but I wouldn't discount the Liberals themselves from forcing an election to get Trudeau out.
A sliver more flesh on those bones ...
