Economy might be starting to crack a little. The kinds of businesses that serve the kinds of spending that people turn off first, are feeling the pressure.

I walked by LuLu Lemon today.
Based on the fact that I had to walk on the road as the sidewalk was full of people trying to get in and spend, I guess that really expansive leisure wear isn't one of those things that get 'turned off'
Well as that old saying goes , Drunks, kids and Yoga pants all tell the truthI walked by LuLu Lemon today.

At the rate food prices are going up, that may not be a long-term problem. There are a lot of really expansive people these days.
It was also Boxing Day, so, like Black Friday, people were there for the discounts. I wouldn't expect the same traffic even next week.I walked by LuLu Lemon today.

The maritimes in particular are leading the way.
Yes. As small businesses fold, people with money will step in to snap up the bargains. More assets will be concentrated into their hands. Socialists will be overjoyed.I wouldn’t put too much into line up lengths at a lululemon. There are still plenty of people out there with money.
So we now have a carbon tax, and that carbon tax is now scheduled go be increased for the 3rd time since being introduced...You are being sarcastic I presume and ignoring the massive debt through out of control spending of Trudeau.
So we now have a carbon tax, and that carbon tax is now scheduled go be increased for the 3rd time since being introduced...
Each carbon tax gets multiple times before the consumer ultimately pays for it in the end.
We also pay more in personal income tax than we did before...
Yet despite the citizenry being taxed to death on everything...we somehow managed to double the national debt from $1.1T to $2.1T...
Do we have anything positive to show for ourselves as a country, after incurring an additional Trillion dollars of debt?
Where did that money go?
Ah, mandatory fun...if ever there was an oxymoron so easy to envision...Daycare
Dental care
Tampons
Heat Pumps
Subsidized Pot
Cocaine dispensers (free)
Most expensive pipeline in world history
Battery plants
Hurricane damage relief (thanks for the new pick up truck)
Vaccine plants
Mask import/export businesses
Arrivecan App
Glamping Yurt Tents
Sunny ways.
Anyone caught not having fun will be shot.
Daycares... I don't mind society providing some form of daycare in a sense. I'm so far out of my lane on this, I have no idea about what the government currently does that helps for daycare - truly not a clue either wayDaycare

A subsidy is a way of giving money to other people. If batteries are exported we are giving money to foreigners. Domestically, a lot of the subsidies for EVs and everything associated with them are ending up in the hands of people who already have enough money to buy expensive vehicles. If an enterprise is unprofitable without the subsidies (which is often the case, although not necessarily in this one), then subsidies are basically a transfer of money from taxpayers to enterprise owners/shareholders (as profits that would otherwise be unattainable). Rationally, we should let other countries subsidize battery plants and buy their batteries and we will have money left over to consume something in addition to the batteries.Battery plants...heard a bit about this, mostly because it sounds super expensive. But is this a good thing or bad thing our government got us into? Anybody have an opinion on this?
