Trudeau Popularity - or not (various polling, etc.)

I will agree only if JT leaves and another leader leads in the next election. If JT stays it won’t be pretty for the LPC.
Unless they bring in an outsider, Trudeau built a caucus of obedience. Every single MP is tainted by his failure now. Even Freeland trying to run away with it with her letter wouldn't be stupid enough to be this generations John Turner. Whoever the Liberals choose (or let Trudeau reap what he sowed) is going to get pounded in the next election. This is 1984 (the year not the book) all over again.

Edit: Another Liberal has jumped off the Titantic.

Just came here to post that about Mendocino.

Can't say I'm particularly surprised.

They are too far gone. The venom also applies to his caucus. They are almost as equally despised as their leader. The whole party has lost the trust of the electorate. Simply reminding voters of the billions of taxpayer dollars that have been 'lost' and stolen by the party is enough to assure their demise.

I'd lean more this way, but I, too, remember folks being piled on for dissing O'Toole in his time.

Finally, some semblance of (negative) messaging from Team Red's comms: what'll he cut & what'll it mean?
Team Red commentariat on the pods suggested this approach months ago, so we'll see. Tactically, it's supposed to get questions asked about "So, whatcha gonna cut? Will you commit to keeping x?" but PP's been FAR to disciplined to rise to the bait just yet.

So just following up on the Liberal fear mongering and gaslighting…

So the well-fed Liberals gathering around the dinner table and bemoaning the evilness of Poilievre, including the quote “I heard that Pierre Poilievre voted against $10 a day day care…” represents the deceitfulness that the Liberals are willing to go to leverage ignorance and/or preconceptions of their remaining voter block.

That fact that this Liberal commercial was made 16-1/2 months after the June 19, 2023 vote for Bill C-35, means that the Liberals wilfully and deliberately misrepresented Poilievre and the. Conservatives in the commercial….but the clapping seals will clap again, and shit talk Poilievre as though it were the truth.

Anyone up for some fact checking? Guess how Pierre Poilievre voted? (Hint: exactly the same as every other Parliamentarian who participated in the unanimous vote…YEA.). Not only did Poilievre vote YEA, but the ENTIRE Conservative caucus voted YEA.

They are a poisonous and stupid lot. Play some clips from the Minister of Transport telling us "Canadians forgot how to travel".

A former OPP boss did a little time in security branch on the Lt. Gov. detail during Pauline McGibbon's tenure. He said it was like going shopping with your grandmother, every day.

Chaufferring a nice old doll to the beauty parlour sounds good.

So does intelligence gathering on foreign agents.

But, dealing with obnoxious loudmouths, not so much.

Saw an RCMP spokesperson on TV the other night. She explained how they could get away with being "awful, but lawful."

Note that Marco Mendicino's letter did not mention Trudeau, nor did he add Trudeau to those he thanked.

Mendicino was going to lose his seat anyway.

When these MP's resign, it should be effective immediately, thus not collecting a big paycheque. Two Liberal MP's have resigned and have not sat in the HoC since. Seamus O'Regan is one.

I though they just resigned from cabinet?

Some cool highlights from the latest from Angus Reid & Co.
  • "Part One: The current Liberal vote universe
    • Those who “Might Consider” the LPC do not approve of Trudeau
    • But they view Poilievre even more negatively
    • Liberals would need to draw votes away from NDP, convince the initially undecided
    • Who wants the PM to stay? Mostly people who say they’d never vote Liberal anyway
  • Part Two: Potential Liberal successors
    • Freeland holds lead across Liberal Vote Universe
    • CPC still dominates, regardless of leader"
Which new Team Red boss would draw more?

And who wants JT to stick around?

Deets on the latest polling:

I can only hope that freeland doesn't get the nod as replacement.

I don't think I could take four more years of her whiny, condecending, Miss Chrystia Romper Room voice. Mind, if they lose party status, they won't have many opportunities to speak anyway.

I don't think the LPC will be ignored. Even if they are reduced to a single digit seat count our media will get them much more air time than they deserve.

I find it interesting that a Freeland Lib party pulls from the NDP support for the most part. Almost like Team Orange views her as one of theirs….
