I’m actually ok with some of those, especially the dairy and streaming and online news regulations. I wasn’t a fan before Trump and my mind hasn’t changed.

As for the booze…m’eh. Just because it’s stocked doesn’t mean it will be bought. I never bought much of their swill beforehand anyways. Not really a fan of mandating the provinces to stock a foreign import in their Crown stores.

Some of the online regulations I agree with, I think they could be tweaked. Outside of dairy though, this is the Trump administration really trying to bend domestic policy alot in canada

Considering that the USA already does not use their full allotment of dairy exports allowed under CUSMA, Canadian food regulations are going to be the target of any negotiation.

CUSMA/USMCA/T-MEC have been passed by the legislatures of all 3 countries.

USMCA is an act of Congress.

The US president cannot leave USMCA without passing a bill through Congress to make it no longer the law of the land.

I believe that requires 60 senators.

And while CUSMA/USMCA/T-Mec is up for negotiations in 2026, the actual expiry date is 2036. If no deal is struck, it leads to yearly renegotiations until 2036 or a new deal is struck, whichever comes first.

I'm awaiting news that the new bridge between Windsor-Detroit will not be the Gordie Howe Bridge but the Donald J Trump Bridge as the price for USMCA not being ripped up.
