Trump administration 2024-2028

I may have used this video as part of my Officer's PD this morning... as in... "Don't allow yourself or your troops to suck so badly at drill they end up a TikTok meme"
The CAF has paid lip service to proper drill except in few exceptions that we are now in a lamentable state for even basic stuff.

Watch the Remembrance Day parades in downtown Ottawa on YouTube. There is no parade practice for Remembrance Day, people just show up and do basic foot drill. It looks far more professional than what happened last weekend in Washington.

Is drill necessary?

Soapbox time. I think we can all agree that drill has it's roots in field formations required for battle. In the naval context, it was used to reliably train sailors in repeatable actions necessary for safe operation of the vessels. The second order effect of drill was condoning troops to immediate response to direction. This conditioned response remains a cornerstone of service where we often don't have the time to explain every order, we simply need it carried out now. So, IMHO, yes we still need drill. But perhaps I'm reading too much into things.
