Trump administration 2024-2028

It's been in the news for the last few days...

(I'll edit shortly with some links)
Labour stats are published monthly. Immigration stats are quarterly. Neither appears to be missing. I’ve seen allegations like that floating around social media but they don’t seem to hold up to scrutiny.

The Labour Force Survey releases are here, most recently published on Friday: Release schedule – Major economic releases

The immigration data seems to have a number of different products, but the quarterly estimate of non-tangent resident was last published in June: Estimates of the number of non-permanent residents by type, quarterly

Funny. I seem to recall the right in Canada going apeshit about our former PM having budgets that "balance themselves."

Odd change of stance when the shoe is on the other foot.

Doesn’t matter who’s running the country, debts are inevitable and ultimately meaningless when you’re dead. No one seems to care anyways.

The cognitive dissonance is astounding...

Interesting the jump in asylum claimants in the last 6 months, my guess is some of those "Students" are now claiming asylum. Meanwhile work permit holds have grown roughly 25% in the last year.

I didn’t actually take a look at the figures, but yeah, it’ll be interesting to see what happens with our shifting policy and with events south of the border.

Would be interesting to know how many pennies on the tax revenue dollar are spent servicing their debt.

The District of Colombia is pushing back on Trump’s attempted takeover of local police. The DC Attorney General has provided a legal opinion that the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Department cannot be unilaterally replaced or supplanted by presidential decree, and that the last imposes certain limits on what federal control can be exerted. It appears that DC and the Trump administration are on a fast track to a legal showdown over control of the municipal police. Legal opinion matter is included in the DC mayor’s tweet below.

As much as I enjoy disagreeing with @Brad Sallows on things, he’s much closer the mark on the comments above than others.

DC Metro’s chief was fired for faking crime numbers, mainly unbelievably low crime rates. Plus DC Metro has long been a bastion of criminal activity in its own.
You mean NE DC, or WH? 😉
