The intended result was to goad the fence sitters and hopefully some of the Maga folks to see how tariffs are bad by using Reagans position as he pointed out in his speech. And Trump actually helped that along by his rant……YouTube reported a 400% increase in requests for Reagans speech the morning after Trumps rant. As far as the Reagan Foundation, they are flat out lieing…and the speech is public domain…permission is not required. As for Trumps termination of trade negotiations…who is to say he wouldn’t have done it anyways, the guy is totally unpredictable and untrustworthy to boot. We aren’t dealing with a very rational guy.

The more I re-watch it the greater I think that ad is. Or was. I'm very disappointed we stopped running it as soon as Trump through a hissy fit. We should have kept it running and weathered the storm that resulted from it. Let his supporters (continue to) see how unhinged he is and justify supporting it.
