Trump administration 2024-2028

Didn’t North Korea fire a ballistic missile test into the Sea of Japan literally within the past week?

And just last week the news has come out that NK troops crossed into SK territory, and ignored broadcasted warnings so warning shots had to be used.

Probably happens more often then we think. The actual border is not as delineated as people think.

Question: What do South Korea, Poland and Japan all have in common?

South Korea president calls for military independence in wake of Trump call to cut joint drills

Answer: Countries that all may obtain a nuclear device within the next 10-12yrs.

So another thing to watch in the slow motion train wreck that is this Administration.

Japan, still desperate to keep their currency above 160 yen to the dollar, and the USA, desperate for Japan not to sell off 1.1 trillion in US treasury bonds, had the USA buy yen.

18 days later, the yen is back to 160.

One of two things is about to happen. Either the Japanese start selling off a bunch of US treasuries, driving up US borrowing costs, or the USA is stuck in a permanent defense of the yen.

Because the markets have spoken and they didn't buy the bluff

Voila - here it is.

U.S. push for allies to step up defense spending may mean more nuclear states
Nukes all around? A fraying U.S. nuclear umbrella is pushing allies to weigh defense options, raising risk of a proliferation cascade

It's time , it's time to pull of the trade talks.
We are dealing with people who have no intention of making any deal that doesn't involve us groveling.

It seems they've 'dropped short' of expectations...

Gold overtakes U.S. Treasuries

According to a European Central Bank report released on June 2, gold now accounts for 27% of official reserve assets held by central banks, up seven percentage points from a year earlier. U.S. Treasuries fell three points to 22%.

It is the first time since the mid-1990s that gold has been the larger of the two. For most of the modern financial era, U.S. government bonds dominated reserves because of their liquidity, safety, and central role in the dollar-based system.

The ECB said the move was not driven by central-bank buying alone. Gold prices surged roughly 60% during 2025, sharply lifting the value of reserves countries already held. But the report said it also reflects years of steady accumulation and a deliberate push to diversify beyond dollar assets, an effort that accelerated after Washington froze Russia's dollar reserves following the 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
Okay, to be fair, this isn't just due to the Trump. Ever since freezing out Russian dollar reserves a lot of nations have moved away from the dollar.

But the global trade wars and US treasury sell offs are not helping.

So welcome back the gold standard.
