"UnitedHealthcare CEO is fatally shot in a ‘targeted attack’ outside a New York hotel"

The consent to be governed and ruled over is a tenuous one and not to be taken lightly or for granted. A functioning democracy makes that consent stronger, but as things slowly unravel, so do the bonds on that consent.

If on mass the people in the states start to refuse to pay the insurance companies when their claims are rejected............

Except that's unlikely where most medical insurers have their biggest margins. While premiums from individuals contributes to the bottom line the biggest success stories for health insurers come from Medicare Advantage payments. That's the same payment each month from the federal government for an enrolled insured whether or not any claims are paid. If you watch any American TV channels, you may have noticed a recent uptick in ads for Medicare enrollment. That's because they are entering the annual enrollment period. Once signed with an insurer, that Medicare beneficiary is locked into that company until the next enrollment period.

Luigi Manguione, person of interest

It's a BBC article about what is know on 'the person of interest', post 20 minutes ago
According to the Wikipedia summary of the incident as of this post, not toooooooooooooo many signs of the "pro" (initial reports caveats also apply) ....
... On December 9, a person of interest was detained at a McDonald's restaurant in Altoona, Pennsylvania, about 280 miles (450 km) west of New York City. He had with him a gun and silencer similar to the one used in the shooting, a two-page manifesto "criticizing health care companies for putting profits above care", and a fake ID with the same name as the alleged shooter used to check into the Manhattan hostel. The suspect was identified and arrested on local charges in Altoona relating to the gun, but has not yet been charged in relation to the killing ...

That would be very telling and unnerving for other ex of such companies. I suspect going to prison for killing the CEO of a one of these companies, that the inmates might treat you with somewhat high regard.

Probably get a lot of fan mail from the outside as well.

A politely-put headline from the Associated Press

Wonder if CEO's of other health insurance companies are going to call meetings to re-look at some of those claims they denied.

Looks like the biggest whacking in NYC since the Paul Castelano hit back in the '80's in front of the steakhouse. All you saw was his hand under the door of his Cadillac or Lincoln or what ever it was.

Nope. There might be a line up to have first shot at shanking him. Famous in prison is one thing you don't want.....

Atoona PA, the home of HSI (Homeland Security Investigations).
Not somewhere I would stop after conducting a hit - just saying...

Other prisoners will just want to know what sort of means he has access to on the outside so they can exploit him.

Saw a TV show where an old guy whacked an unrepentant, rich and ( legally, not criminally ) connected repeat DUI child killer.

Everyone knew he was broke, but got along well with the other inmates because of his deed, and received lots of fan mail.

Many from female admirers with indecent proposals. Took one up on it. ( They had conjugal visits. )

She was crazy in the head, and crazy in the bed.

Michael (Garand Thumb) has a good video about the firearm used in the assassination. Theories, to be sure, but well educated ones. Mike is one of the more knowledgeable, prolific and premier firearms experts on YouTube. What he says makes more sense than anything I've seen reported so far. You can decide for yourself.

This is about 15 minutes long.
Interesting video. Also, first time I've seen the whole video of the shooting.
