Yes insulting voters is always a winning strategy.
Wouldn’t it be the FP article author not understanding the situation?I have to laugh at this highlighted line in a FP article, The Dems are more or less incapable of seeing beyond their own nose.
The postmortems about U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris’s loss to Donald Trump in the 2024 U.S. presidential election will go on for a long time. Many books will be written, pundits’ reputations made and unmade, and academic careers launched as the polling data behind this baffling, unprecedented election are pored over for years to come. But as a first rough draft of history, there are a few ominous road markers that stand out.
After a remarkable start to her campaign, Harris failed to close the deal rhetorically. In an unfortunate echo of Hillary Clinton’s loss in 2016, Harris spent far too much time trying to argue that Trump was unfit for the presidency and too little time delivering a coherent message about why she would be better.....
She snuck away from her own party leaving the attendees to wonder what was going on. She hasn't been heard from since. They already stated they would contest and that it was rigged.
Speaking of which, has Harris conceded?
I'm believing, more specifically, the commentariat (some left of centre) who say the Democrats/Team Donkey lost its traditional ability (chose to let it atrophy?) to appeal to the screwed over. It's likely more people felt heard by Republicans/Team Elephant this time.... The Dems are more or less incapable of seeing beyond their own nose ...
I think you will find it indictive of the mindset. Most leftwing people I deal with, just can't fathom the other side mindset and generally have a superiority complex in this regard. Some on the right will be like that as well, but I will find more nuanced people to the right of centre and many of them are ex-lefties who like myself shifted right over the course of our lives.Wouldn’t it be the FP article author not understanding the situation?
It’s possible that the Dems feel that way too, but that reads to me like it’s the author’s thoughts.
I’ve been hearing threats by Americans to move here ever since George W. Bush (if not before then). And few if any ever did. Besides, although they may be small cap liberals, the government here doesn’t want them…that is, not unless they sneak in as undocumented refugees. In which case Justin would probably say…”We’re here for you…because that’s who we are.”Not one of them moved here the last time he was elected.
I’m sure Russia’s version of the Manchurian Candidate will be very useful for them.Yeah, I was shocked too. Now we get to see who he will pick for his various posts.

What are your thoughts?
This is the guy that, in the past, has publicly talked about terminating the Constitution and “being a dictator only for one day”.In four years they can do this all again. The sky is not falling.

As others also note, for some voters, yes, but I’d call it a tertiary factor not even secondary. The resounding all-aspect win (popular vote, senate, house, etc.) by an even-not fully-aligned GOP speaks volumes. The AAR for the Dems should include the point that a not insignificant number of folks here were saying from a year ago…WTF were the Dems thinking anointing Biden onto their ticket?Harris isn't POTUS for a number of reasons. However, being a visible minority, and a woman has also factored in.

I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.
In case this was directed at me, I stand by my assertion. They’re actually fascists.
This is the guy that, in the past, has publicly talked about terminating the Constitution and “being a dictator only for one day”.
I’m not sure what’s worse - either he’s not serious about it, which means we can’t really know if we should believe what comes out of his mouth, or he is, which is obviously worse.
It’d be one thing if he was just running his mouth but last night has shown he has the support. He’s not exactly hiding his stance for “strong leaders” and being allowed to do what he wants. Now, he has the Senate, House, SC, and popular support to do so. The Republicans who opposed him aren’t going to be in any meaningful positions.
I am not normally this doom and gloom but let’s face it - the “checks and balances” are gone and unlike 2016, we can’t say “the govt will keep him in check”. I’ve said this a few times now - the guardrails are gone and it’s pretty much up to Trump to decide how the country goes past late January. I don’t think he will suddenly change his tune when he gets back into the WH.
Nice to feel vindicated doesn't it?I've said it all in the last 153 pages, really.
A majority of voters want a dictator, but only on Day 1.Those out there losing their minds that DJT will be a dictator need to remember this:
Tearing up the constitution is unlikely to be a good survival strategy.
And even THAT won't be enough when it comes to some of the trade stuff POTUS47 talked about during the campaign. You guys may want to be at 2% with a plan for 3% before Inauguration Day.
