Nothing sexist about any of those I was a bit surprised at the Maine vote as I thought the offshore developments might have pulled a few more votes to the right..

The Republican Party under Trump is now a populist & blue collar party. An overwhelming # of young men voted for Trump and a significantly less amount of women voted for Harris compared to Biden 4 years earlier.

Trump leads the popular vote by 5 million votes and is winning in every swing State. It's a slam dunk for team RED.

Kevin O'Leary hit the nail on the head when he said that the Democrats will need to reinvent themselves after this.

While I don't argue that racism and sexism exists I don't think it's as rampant and influential as some would have you believe. And I don't think it was a deciding factor in this election.

If you bothered to read my post from yesterday, I highlighted a few areas where Harris may not do as well as polls indicated. Including problematic accountability around legislation.

As noted. Not the ultimate reason for why she isn't POTUS. But not acknowledging it as a factor when people find themselves in the voting booth isn't realistic.

DJT resonated with a lot of men when polled. And much like 2017, voters in places like the rust belt felt better served by voting for him.

CBC even interviewed someone down in Ogdensburg this am, their first answer was to illustrate how Watertown, Ogdensburg used to have mills and industry. Harris' take was that if manufacturing went offshore...then people should go to college. Very much like the elitist sentiment put out by HRC in 2017.

While my wife is Canadian and can't vote in the US, she is a women and brown, and she would have voted for Trump, as she despised KH for being basically a sock puppet for the power brokers in the Dem party and basically following the Clinton play book. It's not that she thinks Trump is perfect or great, but just the better of two poor choices.

With an eye towards looking at our own backyard. Our house is at a point of time where the minority parties surrounding the liberals won't support them for very much longer. If an election is triggered here, or even the regular election date next year occurs. It is unlikely that Trudeau survives. Poilievre's platform, and baseline politics might align well with the Trump administration.

Not going to say that I called it yesterday. But I firmly believe what I said held true. Much of this election result can be attributed to an undercurrent of institutional racism, and sexism in the US. Many of the news outlets are identifying how Trump resonated with men. Polls don't mean Jack, it's what happens in that voting booth that matters. And people know that it's a secret ballot. They often vote their conscience, but more often will vote against what they don't want.

The next 4 years are going to be interesting.

What happened here is a failure of candidate and policy. They simply failed. And the Dems will need to come to terms with the fact that their own plays did this.
