US Presidential Election 2024 - Trump vs Harris - Vote Hard with a Vengence

Not sure. But I doubt that 16 million extra votes are still incoming.

In a week or two we might get a more accurate picture.

Alternate theory... wait for it... fraudulent ballots in 2020? Biden with 81M votes, even more then Obama got? Come on....

And another (I don't agree that Trump was "just better" - except in the sense that he was the least worst alternative)

But this on experts....

Just as government, media, and business institutions have been degraded by being politicized, so, too, have public “experts.” Socrates, perhaps the greatest-ever expert on knowledge, observed that the only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing. He refused to use his expertise authoritatively, but instead, he used his expertise to empower others to think through problems.

While few voters read Socrates today, almost everyone knows that experts don’t always agree. That’s why when we encounter difficult or expensive problems, we shop for second opinions. Whether it’s auto repair or brain surgery, we know it makes sense to get a second and sometimes a third opinion. Why? Experts have different perspectives and different motivations. Often, there’s not one answer. We may ultimately rely on an expert’s judgment, but not without using their expertise to understand the problem in order to make a better decision ourselves.

Public experts tend to be more authoritative and less advisory, which undermines faith in experts generally. For example, Dr. Anthony Fauci and the team of government experts used their “expert” status authoritatively and politically, seeking to rule over others instead of empowering them to decide for themselves.

We spent 4 years listening to that tripe. Suddenly when they win it isn’t rigged. Maybe just look at the voter turn out rates and eligible voters.

I’ll echo your sentiment of feeling sorry for victims of disinformation. But at some point watching self inflicted injuries turns from empathy to eye rolling and channel changing.

The best part of Rugby? The pint down the pub after a muddy afternoon spent trying to break each other's bones. See you next month.

Ahh yes the system got rigged under Trump against him, then when the system was not under him it’s suddenly not rigged when he wins?

Or how before the votes had been cast for this election he was already saying how it was rigged? Basically if I lose it’s rigged but if I win it is the fairest election in the history of elections?

on another thread someone told me the system isn't auditable and thus they couldn't prove that the Dems cheated in 2020. I guess there's no way to prove that the MAGAts didn't cheat this time around.

Goal posts. They apparently can be moved.

That's some powerful stuff right there. The kind of post I expect of any person who has been completely victimized by the media disinformation program.

I feel a little bit sorry for all the victims, but I also feel the victims have some ownership in so far as the total inability to think critically and verify wild claims.
Wild claims? In other words, he didn’t do the things he did? And the people in top positions didn’t express their grave concerns about Trump in the most powerful position in the world?

I’m no friend of the Democrats (I was born in the U.S.) and I’m no friend of Trudeau’s Liberals. I honestly think all major parties of both countries have failed the people in favour of self interest. And I don’t understand how I have been victimized by media disinformation more so than his followers have been into believing (from Fox News and other sources) that everything is so out of control that only Trump can fix it and that they must accede to his demands. Maybe I’m too self delusional to see what is happening. Or could it just be that the charisma of a man like Trump has convinced many millions of Americans to swallow his snake oil remedy? Or is it Kool-Aid?

Actually, this could be an opportunity for us!

China sells a widget for $10, but US consumers must pay $16 because of the tariff.

So, WE buy the widgets for $10 a pop, and sell it to the Americans for $13 a pop.
You might be on to something.

The US military paid for soap dispensers from Boeing at a 8000% mark up. In your example the US military would pay pay $800 each for those $10 widgets.

Most people living in rural areas aren't farmers, and likely have little sympathy for farmers.

Perhaps empathy would be a better choice than sympathy. Most folks don't know well enough to sympathise. They struggle to understand them enough to empathise.

No, having grown up in a rural area with three distinct separate "classes" of people, I chose my word correctly.

Where I grew up we had farmers, fishermen, and people who worked for the farmers and fishermen. The farmers were "rich", they had nicer houses and vehicles than everyone else. The fishermen were "wealthy", in that they had more than most, but were still less well-off than the farmers. The workers were "working class/poor", and many resented the people that hired them, even if they themselves hid it better than their kids did.

Farmers have struggles, but it's hard for many to feel sorry for them when they roll past in a new $100K Lariat F-250 towing a couple of $30K side-by-sides to go hunting after the crops are harvested. Particularly when you're driving a 10 year old Civic to your part time job, just so you can keep paying rent.

You are pretty gullible if you believe that.

Much of this election result can be attributed to an undercurrent of institutional racism, and sexism in the US.
I think it's to a much less degree than I believe you're insinuating.

Institutional racism didn't stop the US from electing a black president, and it didn't stop voters from voting for a president with black female VP.

We knew that a Trump loss would be blamed on fraudulent vote counting and a Harris loss was racism & sexisim.

Harris was weak, wishy-washy, and sounded like a simpleton most of the time. The US didn't want that. Votes reflected it.

you must have grown up in a richer farm area than me although I will concede thats mostly the case now. Most small farms arent even hobby farms anymore theyve just been taken over by horse people. The rest is pretty much leased out to cash croppers/dairy/chicken. Lots of money tied up

The establishment cannot corrupt him? Wow. He’s already corrupt and bent out of shape. He’s a rapist, a racist, a conman, he has cheated his business partners and says people should be shot. In the previous election he told his fans that if any of them were arrested for attacking or injuring protestors during his rally that he would foot the bill. People who saw him during the January 6 riots said he was happy at what he was seeing. He seems to love violence when it is used in his favour. Many of his former staff and advisers have said he is too dangerous to have that high office. He wants unchecked power to satisfy his sick ego and wants the armed forces to swear allegiance to him and not to the constitution. In other words, he becomes The State. Like all tinpot dictators he picks up on some of the things (e.g. immigration) that the people want something done about. And he will keep his word. I’m sure of that. But Mary Trump was right…Donald Trump is seriously disturbed.

Not to say he won’t do any good. Hey, even Mussolini could be credited with making the trains run on time. Oh, yes, Hitler built the autobahn. Now, if only Trump had the kind of generals Hitler had. Even some of the tinpot dictators from the so-called shithole countries Trump despises have probably done at least a few good deeds to justify their control.

Sorry, pal, I know many people here feel that America needs someone like Trump. But the more I see and hear him speak, the more I’m convinced that the American public has reached a new low in the person they have made their president and the leader of the free world. It’s as if the people have been conditioned by a powerful cult leader to hang on his every word and every deed as if it is a divine occurrence.
We're you sucking on lemons when you wrote that? Sounds like the next four years are going to be mentally exhausting for you.
