I am going to be visiting London, Ont over in beginning of Jul and was wondering if anyone can recommend some good bars and hiking trails in the London area.

You can't miss the picadilly circus ;D.
Also if you are in the Queensway/Bayswater zone there are some pretty good pubs.

Well, because of UWO and Fanshawe College being in town there is a pretty good night life. Bar/Nightclubs for the younger scene would include Barking Frog, Jacks, Jim Bob Rays. If you're looking for a pub then I'd suggest Molly Blooms or even The Ceeps. These bars all on on Richmond Street downtown aka Richmond Row.

As for hiking trails...not a lot comes to mind. There are trails that run along the Thames pretty much all through London, you can hop onto one and just walk but its not really a challenge, more of a nice scenic stroll. Check out http://www.canadatrails.ca/hiking/on/thamesvalley.html#desc for a little more info.
Molly Blooms is nice, as is the Barking Frog, the Ceeps is okay but more meat marketish. I'm not a fan of Jacks...to much hostility for my liking. Just grab a cab to Richmond Row and you'll find something to be sure.

There'll be nay kilt-wearin' buggers in the cupboard at Mikey's wee hovel.

Any that drop by best be bearing their own single malt offering to the host too.

Bars . . . Pall Mall and Richmond Street, thar be your MPI, and swagger North and South of that bullseye.

(The Ox Box be long gone, plowed under a Shoppers Drug Mart now.)

I thought the Ox Box always WAS a drug mart...?

Thanks for the info, should come in handy.

Tess, sorry no rental car going by train, but you can ride shotgun on the young subway when we hit the bars. >:D
