White Summer Jacket - Mess Dress

ArmyVern (Female type) said:
Some of the others may be former members of PRes Units who wore the undress white jacket -- that means that they retain their "authority" to wear their former dress as well and to wear it to Mess Dinners if it is authorized to be worn at that Mess Dinner as explained earlier.

They're "pure" cic officers.

Get it at your local tailor where you get your mess kit made.

Vern I'm afraid I have to disagree.  We're confusing two patterns of dress here - mess dress, and the undress uniform.

The CIC types there are wearing mess dress - authorized for the CIC.

They are not wearing an undress/patrol dress uniform.

I have seen people wearing "Medieval Costume" to Mess Dinners because it WAS authorized for wear at that function.

From the CME instructions:

http://www.admie.forces.gc.ca/dgcps/CME_customs_Split_internet/English/Chapter_6_Dress_Instructions.pdf

White Mess Dress Jacket (Optional)
Approved for wear on any occasion when summer dress is in effect and mess dress is
appropriate. All accoutrements remain the same as above. Skill badges and collar
badges on the usual dark backing are worn. Metal shoulder titles are not worn, and
the CME brick red cummerbund is worn in lieu of the Army waistcoat.

Next time I head out to longe-pointe I'll ask - I actually have the material for the red jacket at home in BC...hopefully I can find a tailor in the Okanagan who will do it for me.

Any guesses as to waht the cost would be (w/o shoulder boards - have those)

(PS- do you sell a pack that resembles the issued small pack in Cadpat?)

Me?! Of course we do :) resembles but not the same. Will have to PM me about it though :)

I know a previous Reserve RSM, that wore the white Mess Kit tunic. Haven't seen him in a couple of years, but given his Regiment, I'm sure he would 'never pass a fault'.

I have seen a few of them in my time too. Even saw the tailors here make a few of them once or twice.  :)

Vern has anyone figured out where to get the patterns yet for the mess dresses?

But yet Vern I have yet to see anyone (in my meager 9 yrs) in the CME wear the jacket.

And I was at the school for the CME 100th Celeberations as the Devasted Driver for the Mess Dinner.  ;D

oh...the centenial celebration, i remember that. Damned was i drunk at the big party we had in the drill hall !!! My room mate went home first and ended up passed out on the lawn. She couldnt get in as i had the keys !! the rest of my night, well, i keep that to myself.

out of random curiosity, is it possible that one could obtain a pattern for the mess jacket (red)

CIC...nothing fancy, just red...and midnight blue facings :)

(unfortunately, no cool little gold bits or patterns, or cut away jackets)

I have the fabric, and pants but need the top.  I figure I'll get the white one out of the way first (since I only attend mess dinners it seems in the summer) and the red can come. However (normally) live about 4 hours away from the nearest military tailor.

While posted to 4 ESR (left summer 07) many officers were wearing said whites.  It was the first time in my 20 years that I had seen white summer mess kit on anyone other than the navy
