Biden cancelled Keystone.

Politicians, mainly in QC, made and make public statements that reasonably deter any private enterprises from undertaking the cost of even selling a proposal to build a pipeline to the east within Canada.

Kinder Morgan gave up on TMX because of political and legal obstructionism from activists.

That evidence suggests there is a threshold of political/legal interference below which corporations will attempt to be build pipelines. This is basically true of any theatre of commercial endeavour: governments have the power to strangle commerce or allow it to be strangled by third parties.

"Everybody" talks about successful Scandinavian social welfare states. "Everybody" also talks about how those states - particularly Sweden, which doesn't have Norway's large royalty-to-population assets - learned that they would have to be much more supportive of free trade and enterprise in order to pay the bills. Canadians, however, collectively seem to be too stupid or stubborn or complacent to put the two together.

Instead, we have large numbers of politically-organized people extracting transfers from the federal government while at the same time indulging themselves in the luxury of vetoing economic activity. They do this because they can and because they are selfish. As long as they can rely on the federal government and courts to uphold their entitlements, they can focus on claiming a bigger share of the pie without allowing it to grow. What I interpret from them is that everyone else can go fuck themselves. I am beyond tired of this, and prepared to upend most of the notions people cherish about the structure of Canada we inherited that was designed to protect a fragile network of colonies and trading posts.

Autonomy is one thing. Having the heritage/official languages/festivals minister comment publicly about pipelines (and since he was asked a question by a reporter, he could have chosen to say SFA) saying anything other than, "the government has a plan that was clearly outlined during the campaign" (or something similarly generic) is something else.

Sort of. Some have telework arrangements. Those have always been a thing. Nothing new. We have two on our team. And they were hired with that condition (but telework arrangements can be requested and approved at any time).

Right now we are 3 days in and two days remote but depending on your unit, operations can mean being in 5 days. Our executives have been told 4 days for them.

Also some people taking online courses or temporary personal circumstances can be given some leeway.

Situations can vary.

However the default TB direction is back in at least 3 days min.

I am also pretty sure there are also plenty not following the rules .
