Liberal (Minority/Majority) Government 2025 - ???

The Fraser Institute burying the lede. How shocking.

I can also cherry pick something that tells a very different story with something HDI at the sub-national level in North America.

GDP/capita is also a shit measure of societal well-being. If country of 10 people has nine people making 50,000 a year and one making 500,000 then the GDP per capita of 95,000 isnt very useful and that phenomenon is responsible for a large part of that GDP gap sub-nationally.

That said, Im all in on recognizing we need to improve our national productivity and output.

Which is the first consistently 'Red state' in terms of Presidential and Senate/Congress on this list? Is it Minnesota, flips back and forth? Pretty certain that the bottom 10 are consistently labelled as 'Red' states.

Exactly why its crap for AB to because we have the largest gap between income groups in the country. Top 20% make more then the rest of AB combined which will heavily skew the per capita

Sooo some here totally missed the point, again.

With competent leadership in federal government, all those provinces should be well above most or all states.

And the reality is very much there for what this graph places most of our provinces. Food, housing, employment, ability to have children, etc are in a very poor state for most of Canada.

Believe whatever you want.

At me next time lol

Do tell what you mean by that? How should Canadian provinces have a higher GDP per capita than US states? Whats your plan, legit critique, gut feeling?

What does this mean? How does cost of living play into this when the worst CoL crises in North America are in the states that hold the number 1 and 4 slots respectively? Perhaps youre on board with my point that GDP per capita is of minimal utility?

What specific measures would the Feds have to take, right now, to to have a lasting effect within 12 months?

Minnesota is usually blue. The last time they voted for a Republican for President was in 1972 for Nixon. It was the only state to go for Mondale in 1984. Their last Republican senator was elected in 2002.

Wyoming has been a safe Republican state for quite a while, I believe.

No, we aren’t missing the point. The claim made relied on data that was presented deceptively and that does not measure what the claim suggests it measures. Some of us get that, you fell for it.

Interestingly enough the Feds have taken a few initial steps that would help achieve this; Fast track major projects, and eliminate internal trade barriers, for example. However, saying it and doing it are different... none of those have actually happened yet... but maybe when they do we'll see something. This of course assumes there are no long drawn out legal pushbacks.

The Fed could do more, such as aggressive business tax breaks (including cutting that industrial carbon tax) to drive investment.
