Some correct and verifiable ones, at least, preferably reported according to universally applied criteria. Not enough information driving public policy is subjected to the rigour of scientific method (ie. independent review and verification). This is natural - people like to do new things, not go over someone else's work. Governance is too important for that.

It actually happened. Data was manipulated to represent lower crime and published as such. It doesn't matter if it was the chief or an inspector or the clerk. It occurred and there was an outcome.
