What happens in the White House is extremely important to Canadians because it has a major impact on our jobs, economy and well being. Trump has openly stated he wants to destroy our economy to force us to become 51st state. Any PM (or wannabe) that doesn’t acknowledge and act on it is a fool.

Agreed. All parties do it. Mr. "Elbows Up" shouldn't be taking jabs at 'catchy slogans' - literally all political parties and most businesses use them
To keep things in perspective...is the SecDef telling flag officers to start enforcing fitness standards & enforce grooming standards, and be able to meet those fitness standards themselves, really worth worrying about?

Senior Enlisted Advisors (SEA) were included (think Command Teams). And fitness is not an SEA responsibility - that is Commander's business. And in my experience, US GOFOs are usually quite fit, or at least presentable....
Was it worth flying in 800 flag officers for that?

That's a good question - I honestly don't know
I imagine there was a part of the gathering that was televised (and I imagine will help with recruiting to be honest) and a part of the gathering that wasn't filmed & is more 'confidential' meant for just the people in that room.
Otherwise this wasn't nothing that couldn't have been communicated via an email.

Having ALL flag officers attend in person means it's something they couldn't risk being intercepted - whether phone, fax, or email. And fitness standards could easily be addressed via email.
No I have a gut feeling the POTUS & SecDef are addressing the flag officers because America...yet again...see's war clouds on the horizon somewhere
Whether that's defending Taiwan from China, or possibly putting boots on the ground in Ukraine (or at least making it official anyway) - something is up
But until we know what that is, I'm not gonna worry too much about it
Um, you realize the meeting already happened this morning, and has been widely reported on and broadcast, right? It’s being discussed over in the Trump administration thread. There was no “oh wow!” revelation of some big national security threat, just a bunch of policy stuff that could have been an email.
