All Things AB Separatism (split fm Liberal Minority Government 2025 - ???)

Same thing happened when Israel and the USA were bombing Iran.

The amount of bad actors on Twitter looking to destabilize the west and we in the west just allow it
There absolutely are bad actors who are trying to destabilize the west...

Regardless of them though - the Israel & USA bombing Iran (most recently) wasn't a popular move, especially in the USA where the population has become quite aware of just how influential AIPAC is.

For a President that ran on "No New Wars" and "Ending Wars" - a lot of people were disappointed that America's first large scale military action under Trump was to essentially do the bidding of Israel.

(i guess the above depends on how much credibility one gives to Netanyahu, really...)

(And unpopular opinion here - but I think you'll find some of the most powerful influences in that regard sitting in high places within the very governments they look to destabilize, but I digress...)

What is super interesting is the difference between the Quebec love sessions vs the Alberta treason. For the same outcome.

I think that might only fuel the Alberta part a little more.
I find it interesting the arguments made by either side...

Some Canadians view the Alberta separation issue as those Albertans being 'treasonous' to Canada...

A lot of Albertans that are pro-seperation feel that it was Ottawa who has betrayed them, and betrayed Canadians on mass

I think you'll find a lot of the people who support Alberta separation actually just want their old Canada back, and hope that by cutting themselves off from Ottawa's influence they'll be able to have that again.

Whether that is realistic or even possible, I don't know.

...

Immigration policies that make sense, and doesn't flood society with newly arrived immigrants imported only to bolster misleading economic data.

The ability to buy a normal car post 2035.

The ability to purchase a firearm, if they like. And use that firearm as long as they follow the relevant laws in place.

Keeping a lot of money in Alberta that currently goes to Ottawa in the form of equalization payments

Personally, I'm not really for or against it.
I'm waiting to see where this whole thing goes before I jump on either bandwagon.

So Smith bends over backwards to allow a referendum…
…the seppies lose bad…
…Bannon and the extended MAGA universe scream that it was rigged…
…Little Green Men start popping up…
…followed up by 82nd Airborne landing in Fort Mac and Edmonton…
…and Trump announces the liberation of Alberta from tyrannical Canada.

I suspect that if you were able to poll those in favour of separatism, a lot would envision, or perhaps simply assume, some kind of 'sovereignty-association'; free cross-border travel, perhaps retained citizenship, continued trade relationship, etc., etc.

Remember, it's not interference if they want you to know where it's coming from - highlights mine ;)

"... While appearing on the right-wing TV station Real America's Voice, (U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott) Bessent claimed Canada won't let Alberta build a pipeline to the Pacific. "I think we should let them come down into the U.S. and Alberta's a natural partner for the U.S.," he said. "They have great resources. The Albertans are very independent people," Bessent said, adding there's a "rumour that they may have a referendum on whether they want to stay in Canada or not." When asked if he knew something about it, Bessent said, "People are talking. People want sovereignty. They want what the U.S. has got." ..." (source - archived version here)

The US is currently in Stage 3 of what an empire collapsing looks like... (I think they may have even created a Stage 3.5 all on their own. But there are only 4 stages.)

It is a mathematical certainty that the US dollar will collapse in having any real value. It's just a matter of time.

And instead of allowing for a real recession to take place, or even a real depression, the US just keeps printing money to plaster over it's underlying economic problems because no sitting US President wants to be the guy in office when that happens.

So they keep kicking the can down the road, making the eventual collapse far more painful than it would have otherwise been.

Either way, the middle class gets wiped out.

(It almost seems cyclical?? Plenty of people on here with far more knowledge on these matters than me though...)

Its okay, one sip of wainwright water and we win

Another reason to PNG their current cabinet after 2028.

Smith seems keen the have a separation vote in fall 2026 instead of attached to the 2027 general election. Technically though forever canada has to have its vote first. So even if the majority vote no on that one, which i dont see happening, the second question which separatists are gathering signatures for now, cant happen for 5 years. As legally there must be a 5 year gap between similar questions.

If the government tries to pull anything shady I imagine it would end up in court.

As it stands because the separatist question was already ruled unconstitutional. I imagine it would be difficult for the gov to do anything with it, and if the result gets the petition passed, it could be made null by a court challenge for being unconstitutional

The wording was unconstitutional. The UPC passed a bill allowing them to change any wording, thus they can hold it.

As for the 5 years between referendums, they will bring the forever Canada one before the legislature and the seperatists one before the people.

Smith won't let things like the law stop her pet project.

I doubt Smith will bring it to the legislature, as it would expose the separatists in her caucus
