Trump administration 2024-2028

That must have been close to the last time they used them. Two years later I was posted to 2 RCHA and all the 8CH had then that I saw were Lynx.

🍻
We were still using them in 1978 when I left Pet. I was a CC in 13F. 1st row, 2nd from left.599930845_3158794650947913_6282139064223453489_n.jpg503639235_2949258185234895_5912350941739751407_n.jpg

If Noemi got turfed because of the 220$m Ad contracts with her friends, I'm not sure how Petey-boy is going to fair with 47 on this sort of news.

Pete Hegseth Blew Billions on Fruit Basket Stands, Chairs, and Crab

Some of the frivolous September purchases made under Secretary Pete Hegseth’s stewardship include a $98,329 Steinway & Sons grand piano for the Air Force chief of staff’s home, $5.3 million for Apple devices such as the new iPad, and an astronomical amount of shellfish, including $2 million for Alaskan king crab and $6.9 million worth of lobster tail. (Lobster tail is apparently a favorite of Hegseth’s Pentagon—the department spent more than $7.4 million total on the luxury item in March, May, June, and October.)

In other pricey food purchases, the government decided to drop $15.1 million for ribeye steak (again, just in September), $124,000 for ice cream machines, and $139,224 on 272 orders of doughnuts.

One of the largest bulk expenditures was just for furniture, for which the Pentagon decided to shell out $225 million. That included $12,000 for fruit basket stands, and checks totaling more than $60,000 for Herman Miller recliners. All in all, the agency spent more on furniture in 2025 than it had in over a decade.

“Under Secretary Hegseth, the Pentagon has consistently said its mission is to refocus on warfighting and lethality,” Open the Books CEO John Hart said. “Last year, we highlighted the problem of wasteful use-it-or-lose-it year-end spending. We noted that this reform is fully within the secretary’s control and is a historic opportunity to make good on that promise.

Here's hoping they've caught a case of ice cold feet.

Seems the department gets expensive tastes around September no matter who is president. Here is a article from the Daily Caller published through the Maine Wire. Seems like they have similar need of seafood and furniture.

The DOD splurged $6.1 million on lobster tails in September, over $3 million dollars more than it spent the same month in 2023, according to the report. Other luxury food purchases included $16.6 million on ribeye steak and $6.4 million on salmon, spending similar amounts on the meats last September.
The department also ordered ice cream 79 times for $113,230 and spent $117,787 on fresh doughnuts, according to the report.
Technology purchases also accounted for a considerable portion of the spending, with $5.1 million going to Apple products, including 130 iPhone 16 Pro Maxes, which are considered luxury versions of the base iPhone 16 model, according to the report. They also spent a whopping $211 million solely on furniture, $36,000 of which went toward footrests alone.
The DOD also managed to spend $1.2 million on musical instruments, according to the report.

I’m gonna call bullshit on framing the foodstuffs as extravagance. The occasional good meal in theatre/on deployment is long established as a creature comfort for the troops.

Considering that Iran has a fairly sophisticated UAV capability and considering that Ukraine has shown a competent way of adapting their technology to unmanned maritime strike vessels, what are the chances that Iran will not be able to strike whatever they want in the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz even when their ships and boats are all sunk?

At this rate there won't be a lot of oil coming out of that region any time soon.

Interesting article in yesterday's Telegraph

He has already secured Venezula.
Secured the Panama shipping route to China.
Scared the Shadow Fleet into ditching hulls.
Russia can't get there from here if it has to go through the Baltic (NATO) or the Black Sea (Ukraine) and at risk in the Med in uninsured vessels.

Possibly - the next step would be see where the food is actually being served. If 6$m in Lobster tail is appearing at only the Pentagon year in and year out, that looks to be an issue.

I knew a US DFAC in Afghanistan that alternated between king crab & lobster on Fridays.
I had steak at a US DFAC tent in FOB Ramrod. That’s about as “where the hell is that?” as it gets… The moon dust of Maywand district.
