Liberal (Minority/Majority) Government 2025 - ???

After watching a bit of the Liberal convention, I'm more convinced then ever the LPC under PMMC will make things far worse then they are now.
There was plenty of people spouting off bat shit crazy ideas like that exit tax. We saw similar wild idea at the CPC floor like trying to limit abortion. None of those wild ideas passed there, and they wont here either. It seems clear to me that Carney doesnt care for the radical social left agenda.

These conventions are akin to a General Mess Meeting, without jalapeño poppers afterward.

Just because you table it doesn't mean it will be adopted or implemented l.

WTF is the “exit tax”?

WTF is the “exit tax”?
One of those oddball policy proposals we see at party conventions, where delegates can basically table anything they want, some partisans and some media may a big deal of it, and it gets voted down and/or utterly ignored by the party’s caucus is when legislating. It’s a nothingburger.

MORE viewers, more exposure, domestic and international. Carney is a politician and by default must always keep promoting his brand.
I think his brand is no nonsense get to work.

He doesn't really need a podcast for that.

And he's one of the most popular PMs we've seen in a long time.

Imagine having a positive approval rating in every province. A liberal...positive approval in Alberta. Alberta!

Although it's telling that 60 odd percent of conservatives are not happy with him. Just cannot please some people.

How quickly you forget Trudeau Mania. Carney is only 3% higher than peak Trudeau popularity.

Yup. Some people will oppose any leader regardless of performance, that one goes both ways.

You realize nothing last forever? Like I said last night, enjoy the political buzz for now, I guarantee there is a hangover to come.

And stop pretending your non-partisan, your very pro Liberal, come out and admit it.

Big surprise? Thats usually what happens in politics. When one party is in power, the other is usually unhappy or the least unsatisfied

Need another lesson in basic politics?

Your [collectively, our] posts are better when we leave out lines like this.

He's going to spend the time Carney is in office calling out unethical and shady behaviour. Would you rather see a meek opposition leader who doesn't call that stuff out? Poilievre may not be able to do anything about it but at least Canadians will be informed and can't act like they didn't know.
If he could walk that way, while sincerely chewing the “happy to help & support government come up with solutions” gum, I think that would be a reasonable mix of poke & help that could help him shed some of the harder-held “just a prick” aura. Maybe I’m naive, though.

A security clearance isn’t a requirement to lead an opposition party. Poilievre not obtaining it is a political choice, not a security failure. He’s prioritizing his role in public accountability and opposition work over participating in a classified briefing system that comes with restrictions on what he can say publicly. Not getting the clearance allows him to be transparent about what he knows.
But not transparent about problems re: any serving Team Blue MPs. If Ma was such a China pawn as some allege, how long was he one in the Blue benches?

No, I think you're quite right. He reminds me of prick bosses I've had that were blunt, and great at their job. Similarly I've had bosses that were all charm and had me walking away convinced of their grandeur but they turned out shallow, self-absorbed, and just worried about themselves (i.e Trudeau).

Maybe Canadians feel a happy charismatic leader represents them on the world stage and want to be associated with that perceived persona.
