the Commonwealth Prime Ministers Conference decided to drop the title of Dominion in 1949. That supersedes the 1867 act. Its been moved on from, is no longer in use, and holds 0 meaning legally or culturally.

If you did something from 1869 to 1949 that obviously makes it more important than what you did from 1949 to 2026, the 3 year difference is critical.

Years ago Ottawa decided that it needed to review our motto "Hostie Acie Nominati and some Latin geek said it was grammatically incorrect.

We told them politely that this had been our motto for 130 years and we were not changing it. In other words "fuck off"
