Like ALL (well, almost all), countries, there are periods within their history when they truly shine bright and are really the beacon on a hill. There are also times when the opposite is true. Some countries have more of 1 than the other. Some had their 'moment in Sun' 2,000+yrs ago (I'm looking at you Greece), for others the last 20-50-100yrs have been solid.

Good time, as well as bad times, ebb and flow like the tide.

The US has certainly had some great years, decades and then they've had some bad ones. For me, overall during the last 250yrs, they've had alot more good than bad.

If you were are an European settler or their descendants - yes. Aboriginal not so much.

The USA has a political system that works (ish) for them. We have our system that works (ish) for us. Both systems have pros and cons. I like the idea of directly voting for a national leader as one small example. And oddly enough I still support the FPTP voting method (warts and all).We are NOT going to adopt the American form of democracy.

We are not going to adapt an American democracy (Unless we end up being swallowed by the USA due to total Liberal economic incompetence)
