Looks like a terrorism plot targeting the Ottawa Jewish community has been foiled with one youth arrested and facing charges. Charges are linked to instructing someone else relating to explosives. Police CBRNE team was called out (catch-all term encompassing conventional police bomb squad).

EDIT TO ADD: Interesting to see the specific shoutout to CSIS on this one. That suggests cooperation between intelligence and police was solid.

Looks like additional charges laid in the Ottawa case. The same youth suspect is also now accused of one count of facilitating a terrorist activity, and two counts of possession explosives. Source is Mackenzie Grey with Global.

The "news" bit seems to be the pulling of licenses, but the folks involved were suspended in 2024.

A charge is a charge. Youth always go through youth court. Crown can apply for adult sentencing for serious offences; I don’t know if they did in this case. Sentencing is still pending, so I guess we’ll wait and see. I expect there will be a written judge’s decision on sentencing.
