since the entire advantage to a sub is its ability to disappear it is time to put the fleet to sea or perhaps a useful exercise for the CP140s

They are sailing out of Pearl, the Americans might want some ping time? To see how the sub reacts, it's just as good and we have our submariners onboard to evaluate. (I know, we don't ping anymore )

No, a sub's advantage is coming into the area undetected. To "disappear" would mean that they had appeared, and once a sub does that nowadays, disappearing is quite a job and a trick.
