I really want to beat you about the head today for that...

Bayonet charge foils enemy ambush
A soldier who led a bayonet charge over 80 metres of open ground through enemy fire has been awarded the Military Cross.www.gov.uk
I wonder if the CA is planning to configure the HIMARS such that they can receive targeting data directly by tactical data link from any of the other joint platforms such as the P8s, River Class, Sky Guardian, Global Eye etc.
Those TDL links will be key for employing the PrSM especially in a ASuW role.
None of the FMS case signals gear listed enables those TDLs although we could be procuring and installing separately.
Will they be RFC 1149 compliant? We have means to get data links to and from AC. Plus some new stuff on the way.
The Joint Fires Modernization project is designed to mate a wide variety of current and future ISTAR sensors with a wide variety of current and future effectors. I can't speak for "direct" links as I expect there will be a middle C2 and targetting layer.I wonder if the CA is planning to configure the HIMARS such that they can receive targeting data directly by tactical data link from any of the other joint platforms such as the P8s, River Class, Sky Guardian, Global Eye etc.

Hopefully we get to a system where we are linked across the joint force with all sensors feeding into the system and tgts being able to be forwarded and accepted. We have means to get data links to and from AC. Plus some new stuff on the way.

Testify!Hopefully the CA hyper accelerates this program as every year it waits it’s farther behind I think.
We can resolve this with building a pointy suppressor, that both pokes people and suppresses. Brought to you by the country that invented the "Shield Shovel"None of bayonets, suppressors or priests have anything to do with LRPRS.

I have every little doubt that we could develop an ad hoc procedure by which Cdn aircraft could transmit firing data to a Cdn HIMARS launcher. The Aussies and the Japanese seem to be working the same problem

Wyoming National Guard makes history
Members of the 2nd Battalion, 300th Field Artillery of the Wyoming Army National Guard made history by conducting the first live fire HIMARS Rapid Infiltration (HIRAIN) at Dugway Proving Grounds in Dugway, Utah.www.wyomilitary.wyo.gov
The concept of using National Guard troops in training for HIRAIN missions is not new and is a viable concept for the C-130, the C-17 and even with the A400 (in that case with an active force battery from Germany to Lativia.)
As can be expected from me, it again raises the question of why the Canadian army's plans for HIMARS fielding as being the formation of a new RegF regiment with some ARes augmentation rather than simply converting one or more ARes regiments to being predominantly ARes hybrid regiments. The US Army has ~12 rocket battalions in the active army and a total of ~14 rocket battalions in the the ARNG and USAR.
There is a clear recognition within the US Army that while some active, day-to-day capability is needed for rocket forces, there is also a significant annual cost saving in having large numbers of their battalions on part time reserve status. Canada's force structure for Latvia could easily be met with one or more predominantly ARes regiments - even more so if they are envisioned for a Homeland A2AD role.
