I remember hearing someone from the Chreitien era Liberals was trying to revive the BC Liberals as a regular Liberal party instead of the mishmash of Liberal in name, conservative in policy.

That will probably be a fight. AFAIK, BC United and Kevin Falcon still own that name (they still exist!) and I’m sure they won’t give it up lightly.

Progressive Conservatives of BC (PCBC) Have it made up of Centre right folks and it will start to eat away at NDP support. Let the other Conservative party take in the more right wing types that need a home. Try not to fight each other more than the NDP.

I describe the average Canadian as like a slightly drunk person walking down a road, they follow the centre line and weave a little left and little right, but try to stay out of the ditches on either side. I think a centre right party would capture a lot of the unaligned voters who are willing to change who they vote for, election to election. The hardcore left and right will stick to their further from the centre parties.

I think it does, the "Right" covers far to much ground form a political point of view, leading to this repeated schisms. Better to have more than one party on the right, so people can attach themselves to the party that bet suits them. The key is to make sure you don't treat the other party as more of the enemy than the left wing parties.

Yes. For a couple decades, the Liberal Party of BC was the natural home for centrist voters and secured multiple majorities in the province. The BC Conservative party was a fringe party until the collapse of the Liberal Party a few years back in part due to the unpopularity of Trudeau's federal brand.

Point being, this could fill that space, with the Conservative party returning to its fringe where its leader Findlay seems interested in taking it.
