He needs to put the “Blame Canada” and separatist “influencers”, including the likes of Jivani, in their place. They are anchors keeping him and the party down. I fear that they now have more power than him in the party though.

I think a lot of people are forgetting how to Poilievre came to power. He courted the Convoy crowd. These influencers were all part and parcel of an attempt at a Canadian MAGAesque movement. He led their parade and pushed O'Toole. So they are very much his people. He can't control the party without them. But now he's starting to understand that he can't win with them.

Perhaps it is about the fact that the EU is arguably the second largest economy in the world. Market size matters, especially if you are trying to reduce your reliance on the largest economy, without getting in bed with the third largest.

Indeed, although the EU has a habit of infiltrating its own particular brand of overwhelming red tape bound bureaucracy into member nations to the detriment of collective efficiency, effectiveness and competitiveness.

I suppose the devil will be in the details...

I’ve not read anywhere, anywhere that talked about ‘membership.’ That is unrealistic and not needed.
Some sort of ‘greater closeness’ can be explored but has not been defined nor discussed. But it should be explored for as I’ve said before, we need options, for options gives us power and greater stability, and possible, more allies and partners.
That same ‘greater closeness’ could still exist with the US, but in terms that respect our sovereignty, our rights to ‘pick and choose’ our trade partners, our laws/culture and leave our freedom of movement intact.
If the EU can give all that, great, sign here. If the US/Mexico can give all that, again great, sign here.

Sounds like tourism for sure, work visas yes but devil will be in the details here. I know my company wpuld substantially benefit from thism many of our clients who are in the EU want us there but we cant afford to deal with the visas etc to send people to help set up shop
