Self Defence in Canada (split from Gun Control 2.0)

American insanity. It’s a parking spot! Not even worth arguing over. Simply find another spot. Life in America seemingly is worth less than a buck.

Closer to home, had a double-stabbing the other day in Mississauga in a dispute over a parking spot.

From what I have read about City of Chicago firefighters and paramedics , they are expected to Stage until police get the scene under control.

Maybe the scene was under control until he showed up to uncontrol it. From the clip, we don't even know what the scene was and how he fit into it.

Beautiful. More of this please. Miscreants wont go back in line until we force them there.

“This is my Halligan. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My Halligan is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.”

Disagreed. I’ve been tasered. If it gets you right, you’re down for five seconds (or longer if the trigger remains held), but you aren’t unconscious and once the arc stops you can immediately move and fight. You can see the frame where he gets the halligan in the dome and his head rotates. Pretty sure he was lights out while still on his feet.

As an aside, that cop was utter junk. The firefighter should never have been left hung out to dry to be in that position.

Tasers also have killed people; but the Taser Corporation pays doctors to invent things like "excited delirium" to create reasonable doubt.

Correlation/causality. The odds of dying incidental to a taser use are exceptionally slim. They’re probably the safest tool we have all in all. Generally speaking, there’s a lot of overlap between people whose behaviour leads to a taser deployment, and people who’ve done some pretty wild shit to their physiology (often with chemical help) and are vulnerable to sudden medical emergency regardless. Most of the time when you hear of such cases, buddy’s got a ton of stimulants onboard and the body doesn’t cope well with all the things happening at once.

I would rather be tasered than OC sprayed again, or punched in the head, or hit with a blunt weapon. And I’d choose a taser in nearly every instance over any other weapon so long as deadly force isn’t called for. And a taser is a perfectly appropriate counter to someone trying to land punches or kicks.
