Canada moves to 2% GDP end of FY25/26 - PMMC

Yes because people wanted that for years, CPC pushed it and the liberals ignored it until the last election when threatened with defeat.

Carney didn't cancel carbon tax - they reduced it to zero and could just as easily put it up tomorrow.
About that carbon tax…just got a new name.

So.....

The clean fuel regulations;

  • that have existed since 1999 as part of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act,
  • are designed to gradually increase marginally until 2035
  • that primarily affects fuel retailers like Imperial Oil et al (who lobbied hard against this) from being able to use cheaper but dirtier fuel sources
  • that was last revised in Sept 2022 with little fanfare or opposition from the CPC

somehow equates to the new Liberal government creating a new Carbon Tax on Canadian consumers....

Something tells me the CPC has a surplus of "Axe the Tax" merch they need to liquidate.

Beat me to it.
Rage donators need some rage fuel- critical thinking need not apply.

See my post from the LPC thread- if Carney keeps being competent the wall spaghetti is going to get more and more desparate- getting this sad this early is not a good look.

False, this was passed into law once the house returned to strike the consumer carbon tax from the books completely. The OIC was a temp measure
The house returned?? Must have been that 2 weeks I went on vacation and ignored the world. Seemed like the election ran into summer break.

By all means remove ethanol and allow cheaper fuel grades. Let me know how that goes when your cars maintenance bill spikes.
getting rid of ethanol would be wonderful. Just think of all the cropland that would go back to growing stuff you can eat and my outboard wouldn't keep gumming up.

You’d need to discuss that with the provinces too as most (maybe all?) have their own mandatory ethanol standards independent of federal regulations.
